Caveat: anything I read here is likely to end up on my blog or in our corporate marketing materials.  We are a business after all, although I believe we are a business that loves delighting our customers.

It would be great to read some customer OQO stories here.  Please share your great experiences (and photos of you with your OQO in places you work or travel) with the community by replying to this post.

Thanks for being our customer!

Would you also like stories about "How to get it fixed" if you don't live in the USA, and don't have an American credit card to pay with ?
I had big problems and live in Canada, one of your closest neighbours................

Send me a private e-mail with some details (via the messaging feature of this forum at http://www.oqotalk.com/index.php?action=pm), and I'll see if our team can figure out how to do better for your and our other customers outside the US.  Helpful details:

  • What model of OQO do you have and from whom did you buy it
  • What was/is the problem
  • What did you do to try to resolve the problem
  • Tech support case number if applicable
  • What do you think we could do differently to provide you with better service

Thanks for being our customer!

My OQO Storey: A very short storey, ordered a oqo 02, canceled order due to bs respones from oqo customer service concerning delays, feared I would receive the same bs responses from oqo technical support.

My OQO TALK Storey: Excellent site, great members, great information resource. Although I went with a non-oqo device I will continue to utilize this site as a resource.

I am an attornry and spend much of my time on the road.  When not on the road I commute to work on a train.  The OQO paid for itself the very first day I used it.  This is true portability!!  The uses for this device are endless.  The first week I had it I took a quick trip to DC.  OQO in one jacket pocket, the wireless keyboard in the other....NO BRIEFCASE needed.  WIth all my files on OneNote, I had an entire office with me and both hands free!

I moved up to the OQO-2 from the HTC Universal, which was a great machine, but I was tired of the compromises of Windows Mobile. The HP 200LX had proven to me the value of having a full-fledged computer in your pocket long ago, and the OQO-2 has finally brought that reality into this millennium. The keyboard of the OQO-2 reminds me of the 200LX, both excellent, and the OQO-2’s trackstick is also excellent. The screen is gorgeous. I have both a regular and an extended battery, and for my purposes the battery life is fine. The internet on Windows Mobile is a less than pleasant experience. With the OQO-2’s WWAN and Wifi, a no-compromise full internet experience anywhere is what I have enjoyed at home, work, and on vacation. This came in handy on vacation with family at a rented house with no computer. We wanted to stop on our route back for a pet need. So my brother-in-law and I were able to search the internet on my OQO-2 for pet stores, and then figure out which one would be on the way. It was no big deal but something that could have taken a lot of time and frustration was instead quick and painless. I plan to take OQO up on the upgrade to Rev A and the possibility of a future upgrade to an SSD is intriguing. I tend to obsess on major purchases, and I certainly did with this one. I studied the UMPC market and developments for months before I placed my order, and I am extremely pleased with my purchase. For me if it doesn’t fit in my pocket, it is not ultra-mobile. There are lots of alternatives, but the OQO-2 is the only one that is right for me.
Cheers.   Grin

When you send out the product include some cards telling what the product is. I would love to hand them out while I'm working on the OQO2. That way  I would not have to explain what it is and I would be able to get my work done.

Great suggestion!  If I can read a little into your story/request, I guess that means that people come up to you and ask you what the OQO is, can they try it out, etc.  This happens to me in airports, hotels, and ball games (I had a crowd of 8-12 year old baseball players waiting in line to get on Runescape at my son's last Fall Ball game :-) ).

It's good to understand why someone doesn't become a customer, so thanks for sharing your story!  There were definitely times (generally right after we announced product :-( ) when we had shortages and delays.  I'm sorry we lost your business, but your story will help us to improve our processes around product launches -- and around participation in this site.  Perhaps we'll win your business in the future.  I will certainly refer to this story in my blog.

Thanks for being part of our community!

Great story!  Please share with all your attorney friends.

I heard something similar from a law firm customer of ours regarding the use of computers in meetings.  With laptops, their customers experienced a "wall of screens" barrier between the attorneys and their clients, interfering with the meeting.  When they started using OQO's in the meetings, the attorneys were still able to take notes, instant message each other, and look up cases etc. during the meeting, but without the obtrusiveness and intrusiveness of a wall of laptops.

Great story -- I also have used my OQO while on the road (looking things up, getting locations of things that were out of date or missing in my car's navigation system, checking up with someone that they were on track to meet me on time, getting phone numbers not stored in my phone, and even once sending an instant message while driving :-( ).  I have not yet used it in conjunction with our dogs, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time (although I have used it for work while at the dog park in Burlingame by SFO).  My OQO is a perfect complement to my personal and professional life anytime / anywhere.

Best wishes to the OQO-team (workers, engineers, designer and manager).
Model 02 is a super device!

Here a notice from Germany: (Sorry for my English)
Since end of August I use the OQO model 02, 1.5 GHz, 60 GB, Vista Business, docking station.
I think the Model 02 is a high-quality engineering and design work.
Over the last twelve years I worked with PDAs: Atari Portfolio, Psion models version 3 and 5, HP Jornada 710, several iPAQs,Dell Axim X50v, Fujitsu Siemens LOOX N560 (PDA with GPS).
Now it is time to switch to the UMPC area.
On the OQ Model 02 I use a lot of my normal desktop programs and there are no problems till now.
Some days ago I bought Microsoft Office 2007 (German Version) and I can now work with the tablet function and the recognition is better than with Calligrapher (excellent recognition software for PDA devices). The program OneNote 2007 will be a favorite application for me!
The OQO model 02 work fine with a USB keyboard, German version.
I tried the Ulead PhotoImpact 11 and it worked fine with the help of a readyboost USB-stick for larger pictures.
The screen is very good. I tried several movies with Cyberlink Power DVD v7 and the docking station. Wonderful!
I used DVDs and CDs with the “External Super Multi DVD Rewriter” from LG. The power for the Rewriter I take from a Mobile Power Pack with USB connection. No problems.

And: Last days I tried games (more to show my grandsons that this new toy from their grandfather works like a desktop). As an example the game “Most Wanted – Underground” works fine with the external rewriter device. So I do not need the dockings station. The next time I will try the game with a Saitek game pad.
============================================
What is not so good with OQO?
The documentation. I have spend over 2.000 €. And there is no manual, no tips how to use the device in several situations …
The great help came with the reviews from Neil Balthaser, Mark Rosengarten (special thanks for the tip with the RocktDock) und Kenrik Mock and a many other user of the OQO model 02.
Many thanks to them.

I had a thought walking down the street about this, so I sat down on a brownstone steps and whipped out my OQO, so here it is:

Along the lines of the card idea and loyalty program mentioned in other threads, one could easily adopt a referral program that would work in association with cards OQO could provide customers when they purchas the unit and on request.

On the business sized card would be a great color photo of the 02, some brief information and where to go to find out more information.

The card could also offer some type of incentive for the bearer to purchase whether it be free shipping or 10-20% off of accessories at the time of purchase.

In addition the person referring, who gave out the card, would be entitled to some form of accumulating OQO loyalty points for redemption for something later.
I don't know what, maybe toward another unit, accessories, whatever.

I'd be handing out cards all day long!

Hello everyone,

I've had my OQO 2 for a few months now and I also now use it as my sole computer! It works great! A little extra Ram would bring it to perfect...
So I bring my OQO everyday with me as I work as a Surgical Sales Rep in different ORs of the Montreal area. I can't say enough how practical the OQO is to get some work going when there is some free time in between OR cases. I was looking for the ultimate UMPC companion and I truly have found it, but it took a while...
I bought a Sony UX180P (great device, love the fact that there's a camera to take pictures during surgeries, but very poor keyboard input and a little too bulky for me...).
I then tried the Fujitsu U1010 (overall appreciation was poor; I sold it back on EBay. The materials seemed cheap and I didn't like the speed of the processor).
I then finally bought my OQO2 through Dynamism (these guys are great and give super A+ service...). I've also bought a nice Samsung 20'' flat screen to plug on my docking bay, so that I can have a super set-up for doing my work at home during evenings.
The only things that I would like to see in a future OQO (3?) are:
- More RAM (2GB)
- Dual processor (similar to the one on the new Sony UX)
- Camera (2+MGPix)
- A touch screen interface similar to the IPhone or Ipod Touch (I own the later and it's great!)
- More USB connections on the docking bay

Thanks for listening to my story :-)
It's great to be one of your customers!
