1. Do you work for OQO tankgirl?

2.  This is the first post in months to peak my interest, and no it wasn’t the touch screen I could care less about touch. More so the back end. The resigning of the employee, what was said, and also the foot work by Dennis to update sites about this video.

IMO, Dennis was too public about this, should have said nothing.

I would have guessed the guy who "resigned" was just some random hire-a-sales guy sent in by OQO to just man the few devices at CES.

Saying nothing would of lead to the video continue being played, rumors continuing to be spread, and a nightmare for the sales, and tech dept handling calls from people wondering when the new product is coming out.

I think Dennis did the right thing. OQO is known for not leaking info, and a video like that definitely would give the company a bad reputation. Sitting back and saying nothing would of been a bad idea, and could hurt the company financially with potential customer not buying the 02 model or accessories cause a false video of future products want taped.

I personally was not going to purchase any more accessories till April/May just to see the new system that was mentioned in the video. I bought my system a week ago so, as you could guess I was thinking return. No, this doesn't make me less loyal just a smart shopper.

Thanks for the clarification Dennis,
As an employer, I can only imagine what you thought when you first saw the video.
I believe, you have enough social equity that this will blow over quite quickly. Really with the exception of the touchscreen,(please, no. Don't mess with my inking) there was nothing said in the video anyway. Everyone would assume that OQO is working toward making the device thinner and lighter as the technology becomes affordable.
I am continually amazed at how much blogging and communities like this one have changed the way companies communicate with their customers. I believe it is harder than ever to manage the voice of a company.
Thanks for your involvement here.

Well, Dennis' statement is good enough for me.  I'm no blind fanboy (OK, partially-sighted fanboy, maybe), but I think he's earned my trust.  Besides, wouldn't want an 'Osborne Effect' scenario to harm OQO.

I completely trust AND believe what Dennis is saying and I hope that this community gets behind him on this and supports him.  If you need us to write these web sites just say the word.

There is nothing worse than having to deal with a rogue employee who either has a grandstanding ego, vendetta or some other kind of agenda in making mis-statements that will somehow affect someone or something adversely.

I don't know or really care what this guys agenda is or was, its some sort of grand standing idiotic narcissistic behavior that serves no purpose what so ever.  It is simply stupid, careless and irresponsible people who do this.    Unfortunately, it is hard to get away from kind of rumor mongering in the kind of society we live in.

In the world where the internet is accessible to anyone who has a computer or can go to a place where one is available so these kinds of things are inevitable and will happen all the time, its a shame really, fact is fiction, TV/Internet is reality, to paraphrase a 25 year old U2 song.

Whatever and whenever a cool new OQO product is released, I will no doubt be one of the first in line, and I'm in no hurry, so Dennis take your time.  I'll be looking forward to it when the time does come.

Wow! Nice supportive statements 3goldens. Almost too nice. Question for all: how do we know this is not a "fake Dennis Moore" situation?  Remember, "fake Steve Jobs"?

I was just thinking the other day about the rapport OQO is building w/ customers. I like the fact that they have picked up the pace in some ways -from new product configurations to communications (remember the days when the company was practically asking to be ignored<shudder>)?

Something doesn't add up though. Normally, a company's public relations person handles communication. Ivory tower? No. Discussion boards? I don't know... My Spidey sense tells me something is not right. When someone asks me to trust them, everything turns red -as in warning red.

Dennis Moore is legit - people have contacted him about their issues and they've gotten results.  A "fake Dennis Moore" could not do that.  Not to mention that people from here have actually met him at a mini-meetup that was organized on the forum.

tnkgrl is an OQO owner (although I think you sold your 02, no?) that has some contacts with OQO employees.  Nice blog at http://tnkgrl.wordpress.com/, first person to replace EVDO with HSDPA on the 02!

The "rogue" employee thing is weird, though.  If he resigned why was he at CES?  If he had a vendetta is seems there are more damaging things he can do, plus he was promoting the SSD and outdoor screen.  Oh well, I guess none of my business.

Well, that was good for my first belly-laugh of the day Smiley  FSJ is a Silicon Valley classic (much better than Fake Larry Ellison).

... and there's my second Wink

At SAP, I became very comfortable with open innovation -- in fact, it was my job there.  The culture there was not initially nor ever universally supportive of this.  These days, SAP has gone from very closed to extremely open, and has benefited greatly from this in trust, ideas, and business.  Shai Agassi, Jeff Nolan, and Ziv Carthy should probably share the credit for making this happen (btw, I was skeptical).  I hope we will see the same benefits at OQO.

Unfortunately, as we saw in the video earlier, too much communication can be bad sometimes -- for example, when the communication contains incorrect information.

Anyway, we'll keep up the openness.  Keep in mind that despite my being out front and center with the words, there are a lot of people working at OQO on the deeds.  When "Dennis helps" someone on this forum, generally it is Jose or Adam or Vanita or Steve or Brandon or Huan or Dave or Josh or Bob or Jihye or Martin or Rob or Maryann or jory or Nick or Joe or Alok or Bob or Bob or Josh or Erik or any of 90 or so other people who has really helped, and deeds are what really counts -- and deeds are what I think has built the rapport we are developing here and elsewhere.

So, thanks for the kind words, but let's give credit where credit is due -- to you and to the whole OQO team.

Thanks for being our community!

Hmm.. Fake Dennis Moore. Should I be checking if that url is available? Grin
I can see it now. A blog where "The Onion" meets CES. Writing would be easy when facts are not a concern.

Ho. Hum.

Dennis is certainly real and helpful. I have had several private posts from him via this board on matters that were of interest to me alone.

As for touch screens. I had the use of a Fluke 1720A/AP transportable PC with a touch screen 25 years ago. As I remember it had a TI processor and I think an IEEE 488 bus. It was introduced by the USN for automated test equipment calibration. So its not exactly cutting edge new technology.

The only other thing to say is that OQO doesn't rest on its laurels and is on the same path of continuous improvement as other industry leaders. I just wish I had to time and money to try its new innovations.

I am pleased to be an OQO customer.
