I have loaded the 2069 version and it fixed alot of issues.  I have had no problems!  Just back-up or be prepared to do a full restore if needed.

This is obviously a personal preference...  Since I'm not experiencing any issues (at least not any impairing my productivity), I've decided to wait for OQO to release from there website.  But please let me know...  what's broke that gets fixed?  Is there some issue that isn't plaguing me?

gurry:
Thank you for posting this.  I was about to reinstall may OS and start over, which is a nightmare, because of issues with the wireless dashboard.  My wifi was not being detected by the dashboard.  This fixed my problems. Grin Grin

Thats exactly what it is. A new layed out wireless manager.

Seems to tweak the OS a bit and run the unit faster (especially from standby)

Once a oqo new manager appears Ill be replacing this one anyway - Its always nice to have the latest version and as I dont have wwan the issues with this are not a problem for me.

Has anyone using 2067 installed 2069 and noticed any improvements?

Sorry I didn't get it to you Gurry. I had to pay a visit to a client for the last few days.

I'm glad you all got the file, and it is working. Why did OQO pull it? This version seems to work for everyone.

No worries mate.

From what I can see it was pulled due to issues with the wwan and bluetooth. but there are a few tweaks that resolve this. So far so good for me. No issues thus far!!

I installed it on my OQO e2 1.6 32SSD and it is an imporvement on the older version but not perfect.

I installed Vista Business and all the drivers from OQO in the correct order and installed Wireless manager last. It said no hardware detected o WLAN or WWLAN. Both Wireless Lan and HSDPA worked perfectly but the manager said no detect.

I installed the new version and Wlan was detected and bluetooth worked on both versions but still no HSDPA?

Also, if you turn off WLAN from the Wireless Manager and then turn it back on the Wireless Manager does not detect it is back on and reports no connection with no signal but Vista shows full signal and it works fine.

You mentioned a few tweaks? Are these of any interest to me in getting Wireless Manager to acknoledge HSDPA?

I hope OQO sort the Wireless Manager soon as this is the only thing not working on my otherwise perfect OQO.

I'm in the same boat.. This version detects my wi-fi, but not my HSDPA. Since mobilink only works every 2 - 3 reboots, I just use vista to directly connect othe modem. Only problem is that it doesn't give a signal strength etc.

This is just so typical of the non-support from OQO.

I have virtually given up on looking at this site for help as none that is really useful has ever been forthcoming.

I have never achieved a successful backup/restore with Acronis, Paragon or Vista ultimate.

As far as I am concerned, from this distance (Australia), OQO is a dud.

I have had to restore from the Vista image due to an OS crash and no OS repair capability available - and my OQO has never been the same. A raft of unwanted programs and out of date utilities has made my OQO of little use other than for simple email and internet browsing.

Virtually everything else I try has issues which take an inordinate amount of time to resolve.

OQO with Vista ultimate looks good, feels good but fails to deliver other than a mediocre performance.

I even have problems posting to this site from my docked OQO. (This post is from an old IBM2251 xP SP2 loaded.)

I have been having a bit of a nightmare with OQO support via email.

This is the support incident so far:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Question:
Hi,

I have an OQO Model e2 1.6Ghz 32GB SSD HSDPA unit and have just
installed Vista and all the drivers from your website.

I have installed the Novatel drivers and software and it is enabled in
the Bios (although it says EV-DO in bios). The software works fine and
connects but the OQO Wireless Manager can't seem to see the card? It
says "radio not detected"?

WLAN is also working fine and connecting through Windows but the OQO
Wireless Manager says  "No Wifi device present"?

Bluetooth is detected and says "Radio off" which is fine because I
turned it off.

How can I get OQO Manager to work?

I tried uninstalling it and re-installing but the same results as above.

Thanks
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OQO Response:
Download and reload the Nocatel
and OQO manager.  In that order.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Response:
That did not work.

I uninstalled the Novatel Driver and the Mobilink software and the OQO
Manager and rebooted.
Then I installed the Novatel Driver and then the Mobilink software and
then the OQO Manager and rebooted.

Everything works fine but the OQO Manager says the same as before? No
Wifi device present and WWAN radio not detected.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OQO Response:
What is the Mobilink software?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Response:
OMG, It's on your download page:
Mobilink Connection Manager 2.02.25.007
http://www.oqo.com/intl/support/downloads_vista_intl.html
Mobilink Connection Manager and WWAN device drivers for the OQO model e2.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OQO Response:
Thanks for the link.  I've never seen the 2e side of OQO web site.
What is the version numbers for the Novatel and OQO Manager
drivers you are using.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Response:
This is like pulling teeth!

I am using the driver that is shown on the site! The link I sent you shows the version number on the screen, that is the one I am using. We are making no progress at all here.

I have managed to get a copy of the V2 OQO Manager and installed it. WLAN is now shown and Bluetooth but no HSDPA.

Maybe this information would be helpful:

It is a copy of the data on the support page of the OQO settings in the control panel. I notice that Sigmatel Version says Cant find OEMINFO.ini maybe this has something to do with the problem.

Thanks

I placed this support incident on the 6th Feb and by the 13th Feb we have made absolutely no progress. I am sure they are asking silly questions hoping I will just go away.

We should have a support unit in the UK that can deal with e2 units and deliver the type of service we need. The units cost loads and I would expect better support than this.

Dennis if your reading this can you look into this and see if you can help. The support ref is 080206-000012.

I still love my OQO, I just hope I don't need to contact the support team very often.

The "Cant Find OEMINFO.INI" is an indicator of the problem and more than likely one of the key reasons they have not re-released the latest newversion of the OQO Manager software, which the OQO Wireless Dashboard is a part of. I have similiar problems & have provided feedback to them.

I had XP Tablet as my original OS, had to do a full recovery from my OQO recovery DVD after thrashing it from installing some various bad software.

When I got my OQO OEM branded "Express" Vista Business upgrade DVD, I tried upgrading up which bombed with a BSOD probably due to some of the 3rd party software I had installed & should have uninstalled, I ended up performing a full fresh upgrade.

Since then I have had to reinstall various steps of the OQO drivers & software according to their instructions when things have gone south out of the blue, something I suspect from the Windows automatic critical updates.

The point I'm leading to is, the OQO engineers can't recreate every scenario to test, especially when part of the problem is probably due to inconsistencies with Windows, XP, and/or Vista for validating config settings.

I believe they are working hard on trying to resolve the problem although I have to admit it would be nice to get better status.

I hope they will be able to also ramp up their customer support for their international customers as well as us in the USA, I'm sure they are still having growing pains not only in more customers but more diverse issues as they release new products including different versions in different areas.

Hopefully when OQO can finally release a stable version of their software, it will address most of the related problems posted here. Good luck to all when we get it.

BTW, I don't work for them, just have seen worse in regards to support from other companies like Sony, Epson, & Kodak.
