Does anyone know of an OQO audio player that is A2DP compliant?  I have been using Windows Media Player and it's killing me!

Unless I am mistake A2DP is just a way of communicating between your OQO and the headset you are using over a bluetooth connection. It has nothing at all to do with the software media player you are using, unless it only supports mono. So what you are looking for is a player that uses less resources than MS media player or iTunes.

Go to this link for a demo webcast. http://www.songbirdnest.com/screencast
I am a happy user of Songbird, the black skin on the player goes nicely with the OQO colour scheme as well. Give it a try and see how you get on. Also post your views on it.

I noticed Windows Media Player 11 in Vista had frequent dropouts on certain files (midi and mp3) which surprised and scared me.  So I called OQO tech support to see if I should return the OQO.  They told me to use "Media Player Classic".  That solved the problem.

(I still miss the audio performance of my 133 MHz Pentium Laptop running Win98 with Windows Media Player 6.4, the original wav-making Sound Recorder, separate line-in, line-out, and mike jacks, and internal speakers that you can actually use!)

Maybe saying A2DP compliant was the wrong term.  What I am looking for is a resource friendly player that I can control via my Bluetooth Jabra BT620s headset.  I thought that was what A2DP was.  I use to use a lite version of Winamp but I couldn't get the headset to control the player (ie volume, change track, etc).

Cobian Backup -  http://www.educ.umu.se/~cobian/cobianbackup.htm  - is also another fantastic freeware app worth checking out. It makes backing up and restoring your data a breeze.

Autoruns: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/systeminformation/autoruns.mspx

Great little program to run every once in awhile if you're at all concerned about drivers, processes, spyware, etc. that you don't want running on your machine in windows. Simply uncheck what you don't want and you're good to go.

While not exactly overly resource friendly, they do run reasonably well on an OQO Model 02.  MindManager is highly recommended, great mind mapping tool.  I have found that "The Brain" is another mind mapping solution, with some huge benefits over MindManager, essentially in it's ability to easily link diverse inter-relationships.  MindManager can do this, but sometimes doesn't make these links very visible... hidden data is bad.  My solution is to use both together.  I use the Brain as the 'Master' but embed many MindManager maps within it.

The Brain has another OQO specific advantage... the display fits and works well on the small screen.  MindManager gets hard to use on a small screen (rocks on big monitors, usable on small), but the Brain rocks on a small screen, great for OQO users.  It's a little different to get used to, but VERY powerful after spending a few hours with it.  Try one or both, you can't go wrong.

Since stuartguthrie suggested me to add Glass2k also here, I will do so  Cheesy .

So, what is Glass2k? It's a small, quite resource friendly application which allows you to turn windows or applications transparent by shortcuts. The program itself is less then 100kb, it allows you to use different transparency levels (from 100% no transparency to 10% maximum transparency). It works on Windows 2k, XP, Vista and as a friend of mine told me even on Linux (not sure, but I think he uses SUSE). All in all a nice application if you want an unique desktop.

Here is a screenshot I found: http://library.winmyths.pl/images/glass2k/glass2k.png

And here is the downloadlink: http://glass2k.softonic.de/

If you use it on your home PC and you got some more recourses, you should try to use animated backgrounds (for example water) and Glass2K. It's a real eye catcher, I promise ;-)

XMPlay is a great lean media player. Probably the only one I could set up to list Shoutcast radio stations in its library. Switching stations is a matter of dbl-clicking the name. The playlist is then filled with the actual streams behind the scene.

Check out this - it's a piano for your OQO (well, and any other computer). Quite funny to play on the OQO keyboard. You can also play drums with this.

I found a great MP3-Player, Winplay-3. Download it right here:

http://www.gaby.de/ftp/pub/win3x/mp3/wp3v23b5.exe

It's a kinda old MP3-Player (even works on Windows 3.x) and has just basic features, but it's very recoursefriendly, the CPU is (depending on the song) between 20% and 40% on my 01+.

Synergy

http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/

It lets you share a mouse and keyboard between different computers over the network.
Here is a guide to set it up:

http://www.ultramobilegeek.com/2006/08/umpc-synergy.html

Also, CCleaner is a great program that deletes unnecessary temp files and such to free up a surprising amount of disk space. It can fix registry issues as well.

guys, did i do something wrong,...?  trying to use 'handbrake' to load 'annie hall' on to my 64gb kingston usb flash drive and it's telling me it's going to take 28-hours,,...?  and it's been running for a half hour already,...

seems impractical, but maybe i set something wrong,...  i did do 100% resolution and it's averaging 1.2fps,...

now, 30-hours,...

thanks,
