Ok.
I'm this close to breaking expensive things at the moment.
Win XP Pro SP2, OQO 02, Toshiba Bluetooth stack. Latest version from OQO site.
Normally when I want to set up a Nokia phone for GPRS/3G access, these are the hoops I must jump through:
- open bluetooth manager
- new connection
- custom connection
- search for and pair the device
- it will pop up the modem control panel and I must install the modem myself
- I install a generic 56000bps modem, since a working modem is not on the list and there is no checkmark for "only show compatible devices" that I could clear.
- click ok in modem CP, click next in BT manager and then it sets up a RAS connection for me and soon it's happy and exits with success.
- then I must go to the modem settings, update the driver for the just installed modem, unselect "only show compatible devices", then select "Generic Modem" as the driver.
- now it will work
This has worked for the E70 and E90 in the past, also some other phones I have.
Well not any more. I got an E51 today and so far it's been impossible to get this bloody thing working.
I go all the way to step:
- I install a generic 56000bps modem
- click ok in modem CP, click next in the bluetooth wizard
Except the wizard will not go forward. I can click next until my fingers are sore and it will just stay in this page of the wizard.
To add insult to injury, after I have gotten this far I can actually leave the wizard open, create a RAS connection using the modem I just installed AND IT WILL WORK, but this crock of **** toshiba bluetooth stack will not acknowledge that the modem is set up and will not continue the wizard.
If I press next, the button on the screen reacts to my press (button going down/up animation) and nothing happens. If I press back, I go back to square 1. If I press cancel, the wizard automatically releases the bt serial port for this device and also the modem disappears.
Now..
How can I get rid of toshiba bluetooth and use the microsoft stack instead? I don't give a rats *** about a2dp audio, I just want my bluetooth dun!
Also if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong then please give instructions.
The express setup option will not work at all, it will just say unable to install modem and then I'm back to square 1 in the wizard again.

Right.
Money where my mouth is.
Uninstalled the toshiba stack.
Opened c:\windows\inf\bth.inf
Under [Manufacturer] I added:
OQO=OQO, NT.5.1
Then after the last device section I made my own section:
[OQO.NT.5.1]
OQO Bluetooth= BthUsb, USB\Vid_1557&Pid_0004
Then I went to the device manager and rescanned for hardware changes.
It automatically installed the generic mickeysoft driver for the OQO BT device and also the MS BT enumerator and MS BT PAN network driver.
Then I went to the systray, click bluetooth icon, add new device, find my e51, pair it, it immediately installed a generic bluetooth modem and bob's yer uncle. Didn't even have to change my RAS connection, as the new bt modem was the only modem in the system.
Good riddance, Toshiba Bluetooth stack. I should have become this aggravated a long time ago, would have saved me a lot of head -> wall impact and hoop jumping.

Yes Jope... good work... Toshiba also has other issues (you can read about them in some of my Toshiba BT issues posts). I have been talking to OQO about using the generic MS BT stack to solve some of my problems. This was on my 'to do' list. With your post it should make the job a lot easier. BUT I need to do it with Vista....

Try to install new Toshiba BT 5.10.14.4 for XP and Vista from here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/99177446/BT_5.10.14.4.rar.html
- it running fine and stable on my OQO 02 - DUN via Nokia N82, HID, file transfer etc - all OK. Version 5.10.12 is so buggy...

Do you think the stack i'm using (5.10.12) could be why i'm using my Jarba BT620s I literally have to hold the OQO within 1ft or else the signal cuts out?

I have the same problem with my Motorola S9 headphones... tho I get a bit more than a foot, the signal is lost if I hold the OQO at arm's length. Also, my diNova keyboard is not recognized at all with the 5.10.12 toshiba stack and I must use the supplied BT fob. Others have reported success with this keyboard w/o the logitech fob, tho I do not know what BT stack they were running.
I'll try out the updated toshiba stack and see if there's any improvement with these devices when I get the chance today.

Thanks Alexst_66. This seems to have corrected a minor BT-PAN link problem to my phone that I've noticed recently. (I thought it was a Vista problem, never thought it was the BT stack.)

I'm getting about 10-12' on the S9's and the diNovo also pairs up perfectly with the new stack.

I had hoped the first post from my new oqo would be "WooHoo", but instead it's, "BooHoo". I can't figure out how to access the internet with my phone (Nokia N95-3). I suspect it has something to do with the blue tooth connection. I have uninstalled and installed the recommended drivers from the support site (many times) and even tried the new drivers recommended in this thread - but no luck. Has anyone connected an N95 successfully?

I've installed this Toshiba BT update and noticed that there is no 'disable' option when you right click on the icon in the task bar.
For me to disable BT I have to first disable it from the task bar icon then use the OQO wireless dashboard. So it looks like I can no longer disable BT.
I did a search on the toshiba help that comes with the latest stack and it says disable is an option !

My Nokia N82 ( S60 3rd too ) work with 5.10.14@OQO perfectly, same as 5.10.14@SonyUX...

I always use only OQO wireless dashboard to disable/enable BT/WiFi - all work fine! No need more disable BT via tray icon - it's more correctly, I think...
