Infotriever apparently incompatible with Vista Ultimate and Outlook 2007.
Just made a Qantas booking and took invitation to update calender. This nuisance program not only messed up Outlook 2007 but when I tried to contact supplier on
Infotriever home page
to ask about incompatibility I got the response (twice)
The system was unable to process your request. Please contact the site administrator.
Hard boot also needed to restore proper operation of OQO.

No data lost, only time - which is far more valuable.

Hey Roger, why don't you change the title of this thread to something like
"Incompatible software/hardware"
or
"Wares to Avoid"
Members can contribute their encounters, a we'll compile list of incompatible software/hardware.
I'll toss in JelloCar game (s/w) due to its reliance on pixel shader 2.0

I came across one the other day. The Cisco Systems VPN v 5.0.01 installer won't install while the 02 is in the native resolution but if you zoom out the installer will run fine. Once installed it works perfectly at the 800 x 480 resolution. I have e-mailed Cisco so hopefully they'll fix it.

Funambol Trouble

Can anyone verify that Funambol syncml client for Outlook has problems on a Vista SP1 installation? It is impossible to set the configuration -- it crashes and the program closes. I would like to be certain that this error can be duplicated buy others before I report it.
Thanks

Are these problems specific to the OQO, and if so - why? Hardware configurations? Screen size?
Shouldn't software work on a specified OS as long as the hardware settings meet the specified criteria?

Yeah, it should do but there are some weird programs out there that require a minimum screen resolution for the apps to run / install - i.e. Three Mobile Broadband software and Cisco VPN Client 5.0.01. Zooming out usually fixes this.

Hi,
actually there's an open issue on Funambol Outlook Client, related to Windows Vista and the service 'Tablet PC Input Service' running in the system Services list. This leads to a crash while opening the configuration window of the Client.
For further informations, check out the bug description here:
http://forge.objectweb.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=308061&group_id=96&atid=100096
Could it be the same problem?
If not, it could be really related to SP1 (I did not tested the Client with SP1 so far)... so I'd appreciate if you add a bug in ObjectWeb bugs tracker for Funambol Outlook Client, with a description of this issue and your System informations.
Thanks a lot!

Toccy,
Thanks for the reply. I verified that it is not related to Vista SP1, since it crashes in the vanilla version of Vista as well. I thank you for digging up that bug report -- it explains the behavior I am seeing with Funambol.
I ended up switching back to XP anyway. The performance hit Vista causes on the OQO (or for that matter any compact unit) is not worth the extras it buys me. The only thing I really miss is the lack of a "sleep" mode. XP's standby does not save the battery while hibernation is too slow. IUt would be perfect to have something in-between the two.

Hi Charlie,
just for information, the issue explained on the bug report has been fixed in the latest Funambol Outlook plugin 7.0.1, that will be available soon... so stay tuned, you can check it when the 7.0 version will be released
Cheers,
Toccy
