Anyone have any recommendations for first person or third person games that are easy to play while holding a model 01 or at the most using it with the stylus?

StarCraft and WarCraft are great on the 02. I'd imagine that StarCraft would run fine on the 01.

I also love a lot of the older games like Duke Nukem 3D, Rise of the Triads and Doom. These also work great.

Well since I mainly use my OQO for playing, I have quiet a lot games tried and installed  Grin .
I also tried Duke Nukem 3D and Doom, but for some strange reason DOS Games don't work  Embarrassed .

The problem with the OQO is, it doesn't has an optical drive. You need an Emulation like Alcohol 120% or you got to use no-cd-cracks. I don't know how legal this is if you have the orginal game, it's from country to country different.

So what 1st and 3rd person games do I have?

- StarWars Shadows of the Empire [screenshot http://www.juegomania.org/Star+Wars:+Shadows+of+the+Empire/fotos/n64/0/402/Foto+Star+Wars:+Shadows+of+the+Empire.jpg]

- Unreal [screenshot http://www.linux-user.de/ausgabe/2001/06/018-unreal/unreal03.png]

- Tomb Raider 2 [screen shot http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/5/5e/Tomb_Raider_2_Bartoli's_Hideout.png]

- Die by the sword (not easy to control but fun) [screenshot http://www.juegomania.org/Die+by+the+SwordDie+by+the+Sword:+Limb+From+Limb+--+Dual+Jewel/fotos/pc/2/2900/Foto+Die+by+the+SwordDie+by+the+Sword:+Limb+From+Limb+--+Dual+Jewel.jpg]

There aren't to many because the 8MB of video RAM is not much for a shooter. You should try racing games or games with isometric graphics.

Have you tried changing the application's compatibility mode or booting into DOS to launch them?

Yes, tried the compatibility mode, but didn't help. And booting into DOS? Windows XP isn't DOS-based and the DOSBoxemulator is much too slow.

Can't you just keep pressing F8 while the system is booting up and go into a DOS mode from there?

Hehe you seem to use Windows 9x don't you  Grin .

Yes, this is how it worked with the older Windowsversion based on DOS. Windows NT (and since XP=NT5.1 also XP) uses another kernel, the NT-kernel (NewTechnology, great name isnt it Cheesy ). So NT replaced DOS, and for this reason, XP doesn't have anymore a DOSmode. With F8 you can just start in safe-mode now. Last Windows supporting a real DOS mode was Windows 98, Millenium was still DOSbased, but it didn't allowed the user to start in DOS mode with ease, don't ask me why, think they wanted to hide it.

Oh ok, my apologies. Nah, I'm using Windows Vista.

That looks great. I get the impression that it even enhances the graphics (although I wonder how much considering it's the old chunky pixel DOS games). I'm guessing that with this we will still need the original wad (Huh ) files or whatever they are called.

P.S. It even has a Mac port! Yippee!!! Smiley
