i think the person who is offering the install instruction set should provide people a time table for when they plan on getting it out or just say he does not have the tim and for people to just experiment themselves.

at this point it has been a month since it has been offered.

I think anyone is welcome to and should go ahead and experiment by themselves if they can't wait. Neither JT nor TRF owe it to anyone to share what they have uncovered, not to mention they have real jobs and college to attend to.

I also think any person demanding for a time table is being impetuous and a royal opening at the end of the alimentary canal.

@brad: you may not have had to come up with a useful set of instructions to be used by strangers before.  It's not an easy process to put on a timetable.  These guys have made it clear that they are relying on someone else trying to follow the instructions and giving them feedback.  That puts part of the process outside their control.  It may also be the case that they have discovered unexpected problems in getting instructions to run on every OQO.  That adds time every time you make a new discovery.  I know that my OQO refuses to do some of the same things that others have reported here.  I have even found mine to be inconsistent, sometimes responding to an install differently if I do the install a second time.

It all adds up to a planning nightmare.  I doubt very much whether they can possibly predict what will go right and what will go wrong.  If they were selling a product, they would probably pick a date and decide to ship whatever they've got by that date.  I'm actually thankful that they're doing it to their satisfaction instead.  I'm also thankful that they revealed that they're working on this when they did instead of keeping it to themselves until it's ready.

We are pretty sure it will be out by the end of the week.  We are going to TRY to make a few minor changes, convert it to pdf, and post it today.  If we don't have the time to do it today then it will probably be out within the next 2-3 days.

In response to the beta request, before too long you will all be beta testers since we do not want to delay long enough for another round of testing.  Zorg hit it pretty close.  We have loaded it more times than you can count.  We can now do it with our eyes closed.  It takes us about two hours to complete an install including the WIFI and sound.  However, the guy beta testing for us has an e2 and he had problems with the WIFI.  We have not yet determined if the problem is an install error, an error or omission in our instructions, or a compatibility glitch with the e2.  Since we do not have an e2 we cannot verify compatibility ourselves.  We are working with him to see if it is an e2 issue or not.  I do not think it is but we are not sure.  We are also reexamining our instructions to make sure that they are clear enough.  Our instructions are seven pages long.  Perhaps this will give you a better idea of what we are doing and why it is taking so long.  It is one thing to push the limit and do something.  It is quite another to explain in detail how to emulate this project.  We are almost there.  A thorough and accurate set of instructions can save some of you a lot of frustration.  We have thoroughly tested this on three 1.5/60gig units and on a 1.6/120gig unit.

The moment has arrived and the time has finally come!!!  Here it is!!!

MAC Leopard on your very own OQO 02 is now a reality.  The instructions found via the link below will install Leopard on a second partition on your hard drive and additionally provide dual boot modifications allowing you to maintain your existing installation while adding Leopard to your boot options.  We do recommend that you purchase Leopard if you plan to install this OS on your system.  We have purchased Leopard and I know that the OQO community will be responsible in this obligation.

Please post as you successfully complete your install. (or not)

Please remember that this is a beta test version and still has items to be completed.

Thanks to the entire OQO community and OQOTalk for being such a great resource for a great computer experience.

Thanks to OQO for producing the greatest and smallest PC (and now MAC) in the world.  Dennis Moore and Co. are working wonders before our very eyes.

Finally, thanks to Apple for the fine OS “Leopard” and legendary lifestyle computing experience.

Good Luck to all!!!
JT and Troy

WOW!!!  Guys - I am truly amazed, and I know that everyone in this community is very grateful for your hard work and generosity in sharing your instructions.

If you can believe it, my MacBook Pro gave up the ghost today...dead hard drive!!  And ask me again about backups??  (ugh)

Anyway, I may have to just pick up another OQO to install my extra Leopard license!!

Congrats to all who attempt this and I'm super jealous until I get the opportunity to try it myself!

JT & Troy, a big THANK YOU for sharing your work with the community. I've perused the instructions and it looks very well written. I'm going to wipe out my 15GB Vista dual-boot partition and try this. I hope that's enough space for Leopard because I don't exactly have a lot to spare on my 32GB SSD. BTW, cute wallpaper. Wink Cheers!
