By the way, please...please...please, buy the Leopard license if you decide to attempt this.  I have purchased Leopard and I know that the OQO communittee will do things right.

Good man.  I may have to pick up a 2nd Model O2 for this project  Lips Sealed

> I have two final issues to solve, video and WWAN.

WWAN will likely work out of the box. I had a U720 (the card from the USB adapter) in my 02, worked under Windows. The same card was eventually pulled, put back in the USB carrier, and used with my Macbook Pro, which also picked it up and I was able to dial up without any additional software or drivers.

I'm curious; trf, where do you intend on getting accelerated drivers for the 02? The VX700 isn't exactly a common GPU/video chipset, and when I was looking into this I never found any solution (short of writing my own driver). Have you found drivers that actually support the VX700- or something similar enough that you can hack??...

I read a lot of sour grapes in the posts on this thread.  Give the man his due kudos.  It seems evident that the guy put a great deal of work into accomplishing something that many of us will want to be able to use.  He is going to share how he's figured out how to do this with everybody.  Personally, I just want to thank the man, rather than suggest it's a hoax.  What he is doing is frustrating, solitary, hard work.  Let's boost his morale and keep him encouraged!  It's hardly motivating to share a great discovery like this only to have a bunch of couch potatoes nit pick the fan noise or the boot time.  It's a work in progress guys.  Give the man some slack and toss him a few "at-a-boys."

I'll be checking this thread a dozen times a day, eagerly anticipating his latest posts.

What this man is doing is of course very interesting, but I have zero interest in running mac on my oqo.  I see nothing improper to point out the long boot time, it is just my impression after watching the youtube. Show all you excitement as you like but no need to call others sour grapes.

Good for you! I was thinking about trying it myself, but thank god you've done it.

Hopefully a good tutorial will be forthcoming!

Yeah, it's a long boot time, but he did it!  It boots and runs!

He did it just because it hadn't been done, which is what hacking is all about.

Congratulations, TRF!

It's pretty much all over the place, Business Week, Wired, Ars Technica... etc. Obviously, it not just us OQO junkies who are excited to see Leopard running on such a small device. Dennis Moore blogged about it the coverage too on http://dbmoore.blogspot.com/2008/04/oqo-now-running-mac-os-x-leopard.html . There's a nice shout-out to the OQO Talk community as well:

Funny, for someone with no interest in this, you sure are vocal on this thread.  Wink
Personally, I'm can't wait to try this. Keep up the great work, trf!

I'm interested in any geeky stuff such as what this man's doing and I'm trying to help him some such as by confirming him that the 720 and 620 EVDO modem that are in oqo both work on Leopard by default. But, mac, and anything Apple, is never my cup of tea. If oqo was sold with OS X installed, I would do exactly what this man's doing. Almost all the software I must use, do not have a version for Mac.

Again, I don't care Mac, but I love this man's geekiness doing such things, Nobody could understand me?

3Goldens - I will certainly give WWAN a shot.  I have a 1.5 and 1.6 and they are both set up with dual boot running Leopard though only the 1.6 has WWAN and it is with Verizon.

Looks like we have a celebrity on our hands now!

Any ideas when you might share some details to get to where your at now?

Folks -

Troy (TRF) and his son JT drove down to our offices in San Francisco last night to show off Leopard on the OQO.  About 30+ OQO engineers and other employees watched a demo, which worked pretty flawlessly.  Leopard seemed to run a little better even on the OQO than on my Mac Mini at home.  VERY cool.  Definitely not a fake Wink

THANKS TRF!

WOW!  HOW COOL!

I am itching to try this, and I am hoping to get some hints on how to start the process before my curiosity gets the better of me and I start tinkering on my own.  I know there so many of us out there waiting on how to begin!

Hi Dennis, will you wave the warranty on an OQO that's running some other OS that's not meant for oqo?
