Very excited for this project - my OQO is my only non-Mac machine, if I can run Leopard and have the same files and apps on my portable I'll be in heaven.

If only the DVD would download faster!

amazing fracking job mates!
walk thru very good, explicit and easy to follow. NEWBIES DO NOT BE AFRAID THIS IS USER FRIENDLY!

HERE IS MY 1.5 BLOW BY BLOW INSTALATION!

everything going very smoothly so far....

formating partition as I write....now installing...only deviation from wal thru was I eliminated the language option....took a chance!  hey hey~!

now booting into leopard........

HUNG......
FORCE QUIT.....
REBOOTING.....WITH DVD IN....
HANGING AGAIN!   WAITING......WAITING SOME MORE.....
IS IT HANGING?Huh  WAIT< I THINK,

YES!!!!!!!  HELLLLOOOOOOO     LEOPARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kiss
(Takes a long time to boot into Leopard the first time-recomend noting that on walk thru!)

Made account.
Went to terminal- this part of the instructions was not as clear for me.  like is  f 1 really f and then 1 or f1??

Went thru steps, not sure if this was being accepted, some clarification here on what to expect would be a good thing for future releases of the walk thru.

rebooted and got a partition error, going to reboot and put dvd back in and go back to terminal.
rebooting fine with dvd, going back into leopard and returning to terminal.

SAW MY MISTAKE....second time around, the space after the e and before the /dev/rdisk.....

REBOOTING...
SUCCESS! BACK TO VISTA!

Sorry about the confusion.  In the original walkthrough I did put in parenthesis next to it "Yes there is a space", but I must have accidentally taken it out.  It is f*1 with the asterisk representing a space.

SAW MY MISTAKE....second time around, the space after the e and before the /dev/rdisk.....
Here is this command with the asterisks placed where the spaces should go:

sudo*fdisk*-e*/dev/rdisk0

Thank you for the response.

These commands set the Vista or XP disk as the boot disk since the Leopard install makes the Leopard partition the boot disk.  This can also be done in Gparted.  If anyone else gets stuck here don't panic.  Just post a request and we will post some directions for changing the boot partition with Gparted instead of the terminal commands.

Hi trf, thanks, just a simple question I think others might interest too.

If one would like to ONLY boot Leopard, no XP/Vista, is it possible? which extra step(s) is needed or what step can be skip in the walkthur?

Thanks!

Booted into Leopard without problems, and got Dual-Boot to work as well Smiley - YES!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Working on WIFI right now Smiley

P.S.: Boot time with the SSD is a bit faster, around 1 min 30 s.

P.P.S.:One minor thing - I always put my OQO on "silent but hot" under XP to make it more quiet. On the OQO 01+, there used to be a BIOS option to enable this for any operating system, but I couldn't find it on the 02. Did I miss something?

Wifi is working, but something is rather unstable: My OQO crashes pretty quickly after using Safari (less than a minute, as soon as 3 seconds).

I'll switch to ethernet and/or other web browsers to identify the problem, and will post more later.

I would be interested in this as well, though I would want to see about wacomm and wann before commiting to a single boot unit.

I can report success..  I now have a triple booter (XP, Ubuntu, OSX) !

The install went smoothly, and I've been using wireless all day at work.  Safari is very snappy, no real problems at all, three or four times today it'd stall for a few seconds, but then come back.  I've noticed that it runs a little hot, which is probably due to the software video rendering (video is VESA, so no Quartz).  Nothing too extreme though, and it seems a little cooler now.
After I got home, I got a restart error after connecting to my home AP (Netgear w/WPA).  The AP has been acting up lately, so not sure what the deal is yet.  The OS did stall for a second a few times when associating, then kaput.

Note that I didn't follow any of the boot loader related stuff, as I prefer grub, but there was one thing I noticed wrong with the guide. Kext Helper b7 was not installed by default for me, but it was easy enough to find on the net after the fact.  Unless there's a reason not to, people should just check it in the installer. (I think it's in Third Party Apps).

Also, I have upgraded to USB720 (Rev A) for WWAN, which was detected, but didn't work out of the box.  It was able to get details from the modem (ESN, phone number, etc) which is definitively a good sign.  I'll work on that a bit with the official Mac drivers and see if I can get it going.  Haven't tried sound or video yet, but ssh and Gvim work like a champ. Smiley

Thanks guys!

Drats, is anyone having problems booting from Kalyway? I think I downloaded the correct file "Kalway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd"
I get the following error message when I try to boot to the DVD disc
System config file '/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found and then it kicks me out to the Darwin/x86 options menu.
Maybe I got a bad download  Sad

 Undecided

I suggest due to my strange hardware (8GB CF>ZIF) as SSD, there seems to be problem on the installation.

1. Gparted does not boot correctly which hangs at "Loading stage2"
2. Kalyway does not install, it took a while for it to load HFS, loading Systems, and hangs at report disk1s2: I/O error, then reboots itself...

the GParted (gparted-livecd-0.3.4-7.iso) I download is 3,318,235 bytes
the Kalyway (Kalyway_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd.iso) I download is 3,927,363,584 bytes.

Any suggestion?
