Hi
roypwee
, you're the 2nd OQO user (besides myself) that I know of in Singapore. The other is a fella I met on PPCSG forums who got his from TigerDirect while on a trip to US.
Where did you buy yours from? I bought my Model e2 from Dynamism (mail-order), picked up the extended battery and docking station from RCS Experience (retail store, NY), and bought an extra A/C adaptor, charging tip, car adaptor and executive case from Expansys (mail-order).
Welcome to the community and go update yourself on Kenrick's frapper map

[edit]
My bad.
xarope
, the other Singapore OQO user is here too. In fact, see his post to Dennis Moore, CEO OQO.

, I agree that
www.expanasys.com.sg
(HK) seems to be the best option for Singapore buyers now. It's funny how we have almost exactly the same accessories. So happens that I have a Penabled Cross Executive Pen (without cap) on order with Expansys currently as well.
BTW, the iGO Stowaway keyboard and Microsoft Bluetooth mouse both work very well with the OQO too.

not true there are many oqo e2 users in singapore but we are just kinda keeping low profile..tat's all..this is my 2nd e2 now using hsdpa/vista since mar08..I am still unhappy with the battery life having averaged 2.5hrs on the std batt and 3.5hrs on the ext batt...wish the extended batt can go 8hrs straight like my other everun hsdpa...again wat's the point of a umpc when it doesn't have power when u need it on the go...( i use my everun about 30mins/hr x12hrs work day=6 hrs minimum for work purposes so an 8hr battery gives me lots of peace of mind on the go without carry a man bag or whatever...)
Being on the logistics line and outstation alot..battery life is a huge importance to me..but i found the arigo amp extended battery to be useful for 8hrs(if on a desk w/o ac outlet but bulky and heavy to carry around, cheapest I found was at Mustafa Little India)..Luckily the same Aigo exteded battery can aslo recgharge my Everun HSDPA on the go if need be..
I also found to my disappointment that the E2 hsdpa rarely hit past 1500mbps(it's so slow..) with SNBBoM whereas the Sierra Wrieless HSDPA on the everun can consistently hit 3600mbps...using a BT hp is a NO NO for me due to bottlenecks and handphone battery drainage..I consistently need speeds over 1500mbps to connect to our company servers vpn etc on the go..I also gave up with M1 & starhub esp SH's 7.2mbps plan is so exaggerated..)
I also use the vaio ux390n when need be with its ugly bulky extended batt and a velcro the singnet black huawei usb modem to the back..ohh I really like the ulv intel core solo cpu...
I can see myself selling off my expansys oqo e2 set soon..my days of the via c7m cpu is about over and disappointing batt life..it's the most expensive paperweight I have...and oh btw if any of you are xelling off your extra active digitzer pen in singapore, pls pm me...I've lost mine...argh no silo excpt in tat case urgh!!

Hi 24hrs, I'm very excited to see another Singapore OQO user here. Please invite the 'many oqo e2 users' to join this forum. I was actually introduced to OQOTalk by xarope.
I agree that the battery life for the Raon Digital Everun blows everyone else away. It was one of the devices I considered before I purchased my OQO. Hugo Ortega covered both very well on GottaBeMobile. I went with the OQO in the end because of its processor, ram & form factor.
Until UMPCs battery life improves (not at the expense of processor speeds), I can't see them being suitable for all-day usage scenarios. That's a reason why UPS and FedEx couriers carry wireless devices built on top of Windows CE, not XP/Vista. One could always deck out with additional batteries and battery packs like you do, but mobility suffers.
Thanks for the warning on the e2 HSDPA on our local network. I've been warned more than once that not all 3G/3.5G modems are made equal.

That's interesting and I hope Dennis or someone from OQO can confirm this. I brought my OQO along when I purchased my iGo keyboard from their Funan store early this year. This was just before they launched their WiBrain. The fellas there took out a pre-retail WiBrain model and we compared the form factors of both the OQO and WiBrain side-by-side. He was quite impressed with the build quality of the OQO.
Drop me a PM if you are selling your e2 HSDPA (is it a SSD model?). You can order a replacement active digitzer easily from eXpansys (HK) and they ship fast if they have it in stock. Both roypwee and myself are waiting for eXpansys to bring in our Penabled Cross Executive Pens. Cheers.

Hi i am in KL, Malaysia. They are selling the OQO E2 here with 120GB 1.6Ghz model at RM 7688 (3314 S$).
Is that a good price?
I went to Singapore recently and could not find the OQO anywhere, not in Funan or any other place. No one seem to have heard about it.
Will be back there next month....worth waiting?
Looked at the expansys HK site and it works out more expensive than purchasing from here which is a bit suprising...and that is without delivery and maybe even tax.
Any advice appreciated

Woah... at least 10 OQO owners within 100 meters of each other? That's an OQO convention on it's own.
I'm curious, did all of you decide to purchase OQOs separately or it was a group/company purchase. I'm sure Dennis Moore would be very interested in your story (although your last review of the OQO wasn't exactly stellar). I'm amazed that your company bought OQOs for everyone. Say, are you guys hiring?
Yeah, I was doing my part spreading the OQO word on PPCSG but have stopped doing so since the crowd there appear intimated by the cost and lack of local support. Can't say that I blame them. I still go to PPCSG occasionally for my HTC TyTN II fix. I treat the TyTN like a scaled down version of the OQO, sliding keyboard and all.

my colleagues in the logistics field are at NOL & Maersk shipping..most of us have our companies get them for us or subsidized..same goes for my oqo investmnt banker frens at UOB...i see many lawyers at Drew & Napier using them too as well as yr Big 5 accountants...
the interesting trend I see is that a majority of oqo e2 owners tend to baby their unit...you shld see how I trash my vaio ux and everun..always on and thrown here and there...you dont read about RMA ux or everuns do you?
I am always on the lookout for the pocketable umpc having been a vaio u1/3, picturebook user from 2002 on.. for me only 3 umpcs fit in my working pants or jean front pockets..the oqo e2, vaio ux, and the everun...whereever i go..even to kopitiam or work I must have a full pc in my pants given the nature of my work duties..
If I meetup with clients and need to carry a bag, the vaio TZ or the Macbook Air comes along...I hate carrying anything heavy or bulky...I chose the TZ for its looks & 6hr+ realtime battery life and the MBA for its looks..and ice breaker in meetings..
In as much as i love the OQO e2 design (who deoesn't? designwise any serious heavy vaio ux users would too) i do concur with fixup hat the oqo e2 is not for my purposes a full desktop replacement yet...beleive me..go try the vaio ux ulv core solo 2 cpu wit vista inking tablet mode and its graphics card... it.s just so nice to have 1024x600 resolution and see online videos like Joost or Babelgum (high cpu) on the mrt or when you feel like it...I hope the next gen oqo gets a stronger engine inside...
I feel that the comments on the pricing of the vaio ux is exaggerated..if you put in the cost of docking dvdrw stn & accessories..price only about 10% less with the ux which comes with docking stn standard..

I thought the OQO was adopted by your company, but from what you've described, it sounds more of a discretionary or personal purchase, albeit with corporate subsidization.
I've not heard of UOB, Drew & Napier, Ernst & Young or any of the banks or accounting firms here adopting OQO en masse. With IT governance gaining importance, it gets increasingly harder to use a laptop or UMPC of personal choice if the model isn't already identified within enterprise standards. Organisations that allow people to still get away with any PC device connected to their network generally are still struggling to come to terms with IT policies around the various forms of portables (laptops, PDAs, Blackberries, UMPCs etc). Some devices tend to be tolerated (say, when a senior partner buys a brand new UMPC on a whim) but not officially endorsed, supported or mass deployed, at least not by fiducial IT management.
The Sony Vaio UX gets compared to OQO a lot and I wouldn't start another thread here. Let's just say that I can't handle 1024x600 on a 4.5" display, nor the keyboard on the Vaio UX. Watching P2P video streaming on a commute sounds like a fun geeky thing to do (I drive), but will not be my motivation for getting a UMPC. Neither the OQO or Vaio UX are priced for value-conscious shoppers. Both are expensive toys (there, I said it), which is why owners "tend to baby their unit".
Thanks for sharing your experiences with your plethora of devices. And here I am, thinking I was spending too much time juggling between various work, home & personal devices.
