I only ever need to swap data between my laptops this way when I'm away from home or work. At each of these I transfer over WI-FI.

Rather than have hidden USB that will only fit a select few USB keys, why not just build in 8/16gb of ultra fast readyboost onto the mobo?

Take your point about empty space, I don't believe that there will ever be a lot of space to play with, and I'd rather have a build in pen (even if it's teeny tiny)

That is a very good point. I'm not sure why others don't put 8 or 16G of high speed SD type ram on mobo.  You could then also hibernate to this memory instead of HDD.

But with that said, for my needs I would like that memory to be removable for data swapping.  I don't sync any of my files as I only use my OQO for my computer.

In my 01 days I had a home desktop that I wifi(ed) to my 01 for the my doc folder.  My desktop didn't have a mydoc folder.  That way it was only ever one area for my documents.

That would be a great idea! Maybe there could even be an option to use some of this as a backup partition.

Given that real estate on the motherboard is limited, I'd much rather see it used for RAM - 2GB at a minimum and I would really prefer 4GB.

I question whether Ready Boost will give you much of a benefit versus using an SSD for your virtual memory and swap drive.

Already with 2 Gb of RAM ReadyBoost "boost" is almost imperceptible - if not null.

Agree, but readyboost is just a minor advantage.

If you had a 64G SSD I think an additional 16G or so space would be welcome.

But the main reason is to be able to swap files from computer to computer.  I do that alot.

On a side note it would also be nice to have a USB B style port on the OQO and be able to use the OQO as an external HDD.  I don't know how it would work as you would really want to be able to transfer files while the OQO is running.

I've also thought about this many times - great minds must think alike - lol. You wouldn't necessarily need the OQO running. Have you ever used Apple's Firewire Target Disk mode? It works great! Of course maybe OQO could create some sort of software that would allow the hard drive to automatically become shared when being used as an external HDD while running in Windows.

Just put the same about of flash on the mobo as there is RAM. We could then hibernate direct to flash memory, and due to it not being "thrashed" all the time the flash memory should last a fair while

Since apparently one of the founder or OQO has worked on the Titanium Powerbook, how about being able to swap the battery will the unit is in standby mode? IIRC this feature was introduced with the Ti PB.
