Touch Scrollers

Hey everyone, I just got my OQO and for sure, I'm loving it. Though for some reason my touch scrollers aren't working, I have the "disabled" box unchecked but nothing still seems to happen. Is there a driver I need to reinstall or some sort of fix? Or are they just broken? Thanks for any help.

That's weird. It sounds like they might be broken. Try reinstalling the OQO Manager software from the 'Drivers' section at support.oqo.com They don't require much pressure but have you tried pressing just a little harder? (Not too hard though).

I wouldn't be surprised if it's just broken in hardware. Seem to be one of the common problems that many people have.

I'll try reinstalling OQO Manager when I get home, hopefully its not broken hardware though.

You do know they don't work with bionic hands, don't you? - Just in case your name is Steve Austin.

erm..initially i thought that my touch scrollers were not working but after some basic fiddling found that for web surfing,it works really well with opera v2.5,2.6.2.7 but...
it is temperamental with firefox v3 beta 5..anyway if i were to use firefox it would be in tablet mode with the digitizer pen and using the Grab & Drag and No Squint extensions...

Mike, have you Touch Scrollers ever worked for you before? Mine died on me within the 1st month of use. You don't need to be in a web browser to check. A regular Windows File Explorer window with horizontal/vertical scroll bars can verify whether they are working as designed.
If it helps, you can attempt the following troubleshooting procedures I received from Dynamism before they accepted my unit for RMA:
1. remove and reinstall WACOM drivers*, test.
2. remove and reinstall OQO Manager*, test.
(*download the latest software from the OQO website).
Not sure if the Touch Scrollers can be disabled from BIOS but try hitting the DEL key during startup to check. I can't verify this part now as my OQO is on a (2nd) RMA trip back to Texas. Cheers.

Bungee: I will definitely give those tips a try, thanks. Sadly when I tried to use the touch scrollers to begin with they didn't work.
24hrs: I don't have opera installed on my OQO but I am sure it should work in firefox or any regular file browsing as Bungee said.
I have tried updating to the latest OQO Manager and no change, but I didn't uninstall the previous one. I did attempt to reformat the OQO hoping it would resolve the issue to no avail. Next attempts, this weekend.

but isn't windows explorer a split screen makes it kinda silly to use the touch scrollers? I would think that using a web browser or office documents is where these scrollers rock in terms of long term (more than usual 15mins on the go) continued use...also need to tap the horizontal bar with mouse once for horizontal to move smoothly in windows explorer...my 2 cents
btw firefox v3 beta 5 is really tempermental with these touch scrollers( maybe due to imcompatible addon extensions)...but opera fit to width feature, even ie7 works best for me as i need these scrollers to be reliable for heavy surfing on the go...

I meant you don't need to launch a browser to check whether your touch scrollers are working. I agree the scrollers are more handy in a browser. I use this add-on
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5846
to smooth out the touch scrolling in FireFox.

i've tried that smooth scrolling addon #5846 on my vista oqo before but it seems to conflict with grab and drag when i use it under vista tablet mode but maybe i'll give it a go again..
...but the addon works well with my firefox under tablet xp even with grab & drag in my fujitsu hsdpa u1010..

I think there is a difference between temperamental not work vs. doesn't respond at all. I have never gotten used to the touch scrollers to, but one day, it just doesn't respond to anything at all. So I got the hardware replaced (not sure if that's necessary since I never got comfortable enough to use it anyway, but it was at the end of my warranty period and I have to send it in for some other repair anyway). Not sure which "not work" MikeN is referring to. You can check the touch scrollers with any windows with the scroll bars on the side and bottom.
