Right...I do remember seeing the SSD vs. standard hard drive comparison on Youtube.  I'll have to search for the XP vs Vista videos.

Thanks!

No probs. Any word on your OQO yet?

I don't see how Vista can be faster than XP, I have a dual boot Vista and XP and the difference is astounding ( XP being a lot faster )

I agree. My XP runs just like a new fresh desktop computer. Vista sucked! I couldn't click the start button and open an application without waiting twenty seconds for some kind of movement. To get to the control panel took 45 seconds. It is hard for me to imagine that anyone's Vista install works fast. I reinstalled Vista twice hoping to make a difference. I just bought the digital pen and I love it even more!

I've never used XP on mine but I can honestly say that I'm having no probs with the performance of Vista. I use Control Panel all the time and have never waited 45 seconds for it to load. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I watch a lot of DivX videos and as long as I watch them using either GOM Player or Real Player then I'm fine. I also use iTunes on a daily basis (which is fairly resource intensive) and the other apps I run alongside it run fine (i.e. Thunderbird, Firefox, PDFs, et cetera). Maybe I'm just lucky.

Vista runs "OK" as long as you disable indexing and also disable superfetch.

I personally have my model 02 configured to dual boot into either XP or Vista and I primarily use XP.

At this point, I'm about to remove Vista. I was hoping that SP1 was going to make a big improvement, but I haven't seen it. Maybe SP2 will, but by then I might be running Windows 7.

I hated to get rid of Vista because of the nice looking interface. Plus, I wanted to take advantage of the updated Origami when it arrives. But it is great to have my OQO fully power up in seconds and then be able to zoom off onto the net. I will stick with XP

How much free RAM is available once it has been "sanitised"?

Shocked Can somebody post some crystalmark benchmark with XP ou Server 2008... I feel surprise that there is a difference with vista....
Till now with oqo and many other computers, I never found vista was slower then XP, after installing all applications (Office, VLC, Pdfcreator,Klite,...) ... and of course no anti-virus.. (it's almost useless on a UMPC like OQO just waste of money and CPU )...

Now, I world even think, that vista installed as it is, is quicker then witk optimazation we find in various topic... like in this link http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2238 or with http://vispa.whyeye.org/ ....
When, i made some crystalmark, result where much more stable and quicker whithout optimization... ....

Here are my various resuly with vista optimized or not .. SSD makes a huge difference, and now my OQO is perfect...
