Can anyone tell me which external DVD-CD rom I could use instead of the nice OQO stand. I am looking for one that I would need to power. Looking for a slim "not-so-expensive" model.

Thanks

Any USB external drive will work.

Some are BUS-powered and they require 2 powered USB ports. Most of these also come with an AC adapter, but some don't - so check them out.

Also, some external USB drives are made specifically for certain computers (like the Macbook Air, Samsung Q1 Ultra, Thinkpad, etc.) and they won't work on other machines.

I use the Plextor PX-608CU. It's very slim, it can be BUS-powered when I use it with other laptops, and it's worked well so far.

At this point there is no way (or at least none that I know of) to get the MacBook Air external SuperDrive to work with any computer other than the MacBook Air. This has been specially programmed into the firmware by Apple, however, there are some people currently in the process of trying to hack it. I reckon it would be great if OQO sold a similar option without all the dock features.
