My OQO e2 is dead after using it for 5 months.

The only sign of life is the light of the power button.

I am out of luck beacuse i have opened my OQO just to please my curiousity.

Now i can throw it away.

I am not going to buy OQO anymore.

It is a crap.

Send OQO and email and see what they say.

If they believe that you have caused the issue when you opened it they will quote you the cost of fixing it.

Strange thing is that my OQO also died as you described.  I wonder if it is a design flaw.

PS did you take any pics of you opened up OQO ? If not, now that it is broken you could really take it apart and take some good photos for the rest of us that are not brave enough to take ours apart !!

I agree with Kyone. Get OQO to take a look at it and I'm sure they will fix it if the damage wasn't caused directly by you.

I don't think it is caused by me. Because i opened it a couple of months ago and after that it still worked.

I was surfing and watching some youtube file presented by Sierra at www.gottabemobile.com and then it froze.

I resetted it and that was it. DEAD!

I don't think OQO support would help me, because i have removed the guarantee sticker.

Lots of OQO owners have also experienced this issue. It is their design flaw.

Weird, you paid 2200 euro for something not reliable. A CRAP actually.

I am waiting now for LG XNote B831 UMPC, it is as pretty as OQO and at least, may i hope, reliable.

I'll take some picture to share with you guys in the weekend.

Cheers,
Michael Ang

I just received an email from OQO support guy, he said to me that OQO did not send outside US, which is very pity since i live in Holland.

I should contact eXpansys, he said.

I don't know anymore.

There goes your 2500 euro!

Really strange ..... I opened my OQO O2 many times ... once because it felt down ... and I broke  the top left part ... the screw can't fix it any more so I had to use superglue... than I wanted to change the HD for an SSD ....
And at last I have lost one spring (I didn't noticed  when it felt down) so I tried many to fix the second one without any success until I had the idea to replace the spring with the soft part of a  scratch ...and the OQO is still working  Cool Cool Cool...
But in the mean time I bought the e2 model which is much more powerfull and convenient to use...  the crystalmark bench after installing both new vista and same programs (Firefox, Office, Vlc, Vnc, Bde...) Old OQO 2 is 16000 points and e2 is 23600 which is very powerfull, Les hot and less noise......

The OQO has the best form factor I have ever seen in 30 years of geek stuff... the only useable keyboard (with a perfect 2 hands mouse, real numeric pad, and perfect navigation with easy access to F11, Crtl++ or Crtl+- for zooming )
The sharp looks really not powerfull and almost unusable keyboard http://www.akihabaranews.com/fr/news_details.php?id=16030 ...

With two hands ... OQO e2 is amazing ... just for 64Gb SSD the price is too high... but no other choice on the market as powerfull and comfortable to use ...

Mine is dead not because i opened it. I opened it 3 months ago and after that it still worked.

But i am waiting for LG UMPC.

For me no OQO anymore. A number of my colleagues wanted to buy OQO too, but after i showed them what happened, the retreated.

OQO is the only UMPC with lots of complaints. NOT RELIABLE!!!

I have another UMPC from RAON, and it always works.  At least something i can rely upon.

Yes OQO dont do direct warranty repairs for international users.  Where did you buy yours from ?  If it is less then 12 months old then it is still under warranty.

If it is not under warranty then OQO should be able to offer you a quote to get it fixed.  You will have to pay postage both ways and for the repairs... not cheap.

Problem is i have removed the warranty sticker 3 months ago. It is just 6 months old.

I don't mind if i have to pay as long as it is not 2500 euro.

I bought it from eXpansys.

I would love to when i can send it directly to OQO. I am prepared to pay all the shipping costs.

It looks like when you have bought OQO, you are trapped in it.

But this summer we have a lot to choose!
