Hi all,

Well... I know that this doesn't quite fit into the 'OQO General' category but I feel as though it's important none-the-less and I'd really appreciate it if you could spare ten seconds reading it.

I received a really disturbing e-mail last night on the China earthquake which really affected me (p.m. me if you'd like me to forward it onto you - warning though, it's very graphic!!!). Anyway, I spent the whole night thinking about how I could help. Without going into too much detail, I made a small donation (I'm not very financial so I couldn't give as much as I would have liked). I finally realized that while I can't give much, if we all joined together and gave a small donation then we could make quite a difference.

Imagine this.

If 10,000 people donated $2 then we could offer $20,000 assistance
If 50,000 people donated $2 then we could offer $100,000 assistance
If 100,000 people donated $2 then we could offer $200,000 assistance

I know that there will be a lot of you reading this that have already provided some sort of financial aid but I'd like to encourage those of you who haven't to consider giving a small donation to one of the charities below. Most of us have credit cards so it's quite simple and very quick to send off a small donation.  Smiley

World Vision Australia

American Redcross

Disasters Emergency Committee

AmeriCares International

I know that some of you won't agree with me posting this topic in this forum, but I'd ask that you will please let it slide just this once.

I also ask that if you get the time you send off a quick e-mail to those in your address book advertizing these charities.

Please post a reply if: (1) You know of any more reputable charities, (2) you took up the challenge and donated (amount can remain anonymous) or (3) sent off an e-mail

Thanks for your time.

Stu Smiley

P.S. Please also keep these poor people in your thoughts / prayers - I know they'd do the same for us.  Smiley

Good for you Stu!

I support this whole heartily and I'll send something along!

I alsobencourage everyone else to give what they can and think of those less fortunate.

These disasters can happen anywhere and anytime and its a testament to our humanity to reach out to those affected byt them.

Thank you very much, STU!

I am Chinese, I am deeply touched this time not only by Chinese people able to grind out the toughest and most grim situations but also touched by whole international community
able to give generous relief to us.

Thank you, agian, for all the help!!!

All the best.
