is storage space really a huge issue?
I'd much rather have something like 40-64 gb onboard, then just have a SDHC slot available

that'd allow you to add up to 2TB of space Wink

Iam agreed with you Tikker.

16/ 32Gb SSD is perfect for OS (XP/Vista)
Put a SDHC and buy the space you need.

I agree that the SSD options currently available are all I'd ever need. I don't plan on putting a video library on my OQO.

I would rather see a second USB port versus an SDHC slot. While 1TB is theoretically possible with SDHC, currently they max out at 32GB while flash drives have gotten to 64GB. Because of the size difference, I suspect that flash drives will always offer bigger capacities. They also tend to be cheaper by GB and have the advantage of being usable in any computer.

The UI is very good.
Why OQO don't do some similar UI? OQO Shell? OQO UX? Grin Grin

A flash drive can be any physical size it wants because it is placed outside the computer.  The SD is a fixed size.  The SD has one simple advantage in that it is pushed into the computer so there is nothing sticking out.  That's why OQO needs an SD slot.  You can also get SD/USB dual cards.  These cards can be used in any computer using the USB side.

The best option I see is a 64G SSD and a 16G SD card.  The 64G SSD drive is for the operating system and all operating programs while the 16G is for install files, photos and videos etc.  This is because speed is not an issue with these types of files and the card can be removed and swapped with other computers (using a 16G SD/USB card).  SD memory is also very cheap compared to SSD memory.  The other major benefit is that you can store your important documents and files on this card so that if the OQO breaks and becomes unusable then you just slip out the card and keep going on another computer.

I am agreed with kyone.
The ideal choice is 32/64 SSD for OS or other apps.
16GB SD for documents, files, etc.

In the new model 03, if put an sd slot, OQO can put all the manuals, drivers, info, etc. in it. It's a good idea  Grin

OQO Touch 5

See Archos... It's very similar to i imagine with OQO

A full review of Asus R50A from Spain.
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hispazone.com%2FArticulo%2F357%2F3%2FAsus-R50A-UMPC-Llega-la-nueva-generacion-Menlow.html&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=es&tl=en

OQO 02 better than Asus R50A:
-Form factor
-Keyboard
-Design
-64Gb SSD

Asus R50A better than OQO:

-Touch screen
-GPS
-Two cameras.
-Standar battery life 3.5 hours.
-Cooler
-Poulso better than S3, sure

OQO 03 must offer to win Asus R50A as best UMPC:

-OQO Design ... thinner...cooler.
-Atom 230 1,6 - 1,8 or better Atom 330. But Intel say 'don't put 330 in UMPC' Cry
-2-3Gb RAM.
-Multitouch.
-A real UMPC GPU.
-128 SSD

Placido,

I don't understand why you're putting the r50A head to head against OQO.

The r50a is HUGE!   Well OK, its not huge but it is not at all pocketable.

I think others here have mentioned that the difference in size makes a huge difference in engineering requirements a costs.

That said, I have to agree it would be I would want to have an O3 model beat the r50a in all aspects.

But as bussines buyer and future user of OQO, you want buy this model

OQO model e2
versión: 1.6GHz, 1Go RAM, SSD 32Go, Vista Bus, Inglés
1.900 euro

Asus R50a better devˇce, well , not as pocketable, but near, 5.6 size, 1.300 euro, but with touch screen, two cameras, gps, hsdpa integrated, tdt...

I hope OQO consider prices and drop more the prices, not only in OQO 02, also in next models.

Who pay 500 euro for an OQO 01?  Huh
Who pay 2.700 euro for OQO model e2 With Sunlight Optimised Display versión: 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM, 64GB SSD, Vista Bus, HSDPA?

I can be wrong... but there is a big difference between actual device prices...and the price of a two years old device.

I hope real news from OQO soon.

Timothy Brown, International Marketing Manager for VIA Technologies, offered more in the way of technical detail. "For VIA, a MID is a five-inch form factor or less device that runs on an x86 architecture platform providing the capability of a full internet and computing experience to users. That includes the full Windows Vista, XP and Linux operating systems, the massive body of software developed for those operating systems and the ability to connect and interact with the internet anywhere at any time."

OQO is a MID for VIA Grin
Since MID stands for Mobile Internet Device, nearly all cell phones, laptops, and the OQO qualify.  Besides being a MID the OQO is also a VISP (Vista In Shirt Pocket).
