If you want to see it run on the OQO for kicks:

1.  go to the Transgaming website and download the swiftshader demo;

2.  there are two files in the demo that you need to use.  They are d3d9.dll and d3d8.dll;

3.  copy both of those files into your sporbin directory (ie the directory that contains the sporeapp.exe file);

4.  right click on the spore shortcut on your desktop and go to properties;

5.  in the "target" section add "-safe -w" (without the quotes) & don't delete anything. Click on "apply";

6.  double click the spore shortcut.

Spore should run in a window.  It is best if you use the s3TrayPlus utility to have a resolution of at least 800x600 that you can scroll around.

It plays very very slowly, but it works.  It's even slower than normal because swiftshader emulates pixel shader 2.0 in software (ie using the CPU rather than the gpu).

I did this just to see it run.  Be warned - spore only lets you install on 3 machines so don't waste an install on the OQO thinking that it's at a playable speed.  For me, the reason is "because I can".

Good luck.

I'm going to have to give Spore a try one of these days. All of my friends at Church and uni are into it and talk about it all the time. Is it a bit similar to Warcraft? Huh

Did Marovada's instructions work?
