Various things to comment...

Grin I liked see OQO in IDF, like one lead 'Windows in your pocket' device, but better if they announce something REAL... not a prototype ¿?  Cry Who do that? Very strange commercial strategy...

There is a PROBLEM with STOCK.  Cry A REAL PROBLEM.  Cry I haver customer orders that are waiting 2/3 months for buying an OQO. This occurs only in some models, exactly in SSD 64Gb + HSDPA or SSD 32 GB + HSDPA.

Huh Huh Huh Huh Sorry... NOW...i see expansys.es web page and the OQO situation is ORDER BY REQUIREMENT....in ALL MODELS... Do you think this is normal situation? Why not an official OQO answer to this? What i must say to my customers?

OQO is unique device. Grin Ok. I love OQO and support OQO Grin, but this situation is a problem for most ISV or IT that recommend the device or develope for OQO software solutions.

I hope soon announce OQO 03 with Atom or Nano and availability in November / December ... And hope OQO 03 full my entusiam and the all OQO users and futures customers that are waiting some really 'WOW' device.  Grin

When have we news from OQO?
I don't think OQO renew stock from models out of stock with old models. Expansys says 28 October.

I think OQO 03 with Atom is release in October / Novembet.

I hope this features:

OQO 5.6" dual mode screen (touch / active digitizer)
1.6 Atom
Real GPU
2Gb RAM
32/64/128 SSD
Camera front & rear + GPS
Better battery life.Cooler.
Drop prices.

See how Asus innovate from ASUS R2 to R50. I hope the same or more from OQO. Wink

all of that and a price drop? WOW! something like that you be priced around 2000-2500$

Asus R50 is available NOW and has this specs... Why 2000-2500 $ ?

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=5&l2=25&l3=722&l4=0&model=2295&modelmenu=1

The price 1500 $

Nowadays, who pays 3.000$ for an "Full windows in your pocket" device?

Put various models, entry level, good, best, etc. But entry level must be 700$ and good not more than 1.500$.... Please see the market, the other netbook / MID / UMPC providers and price.... OQO is the best but is not alone  Wink

I think a few people here are missing the point. Competition is and always has always been good for the consumer electronics/technology business. When 2 companies devote their marketing and advertising spends to develop a new "product/concept" then you end up with a larger market that is shared by the 2 companies. When a 3rd joins the party the market grows again. I do not see that competition will damage OQO in any way at all. If anything OQO will be the biggest winner from marketing spends from competitiors.

A simple search on the web for UMPC shows that OQO is very well catered for and anyone looking at the depth of info on the web will see that OQO is one of the key inovators in this market.

The same thing happened with clamshells with players like Psion, HTC etc.

So can we all chill out a bit here and let the OQO marketing team do their job. This is what they do for their day job!!.

I have not visited the OQO retail site in a while and I see the configurations they are offering have been skimmed down considerably.  Looks like only three models available, and you can only get the sunlight optimized screen with the 64GB flash drive.

I hope whenever the 03 comes out they include that screen as part of the overall design and not an option.  I would think it would come in handy!

I suspect that all the recent fire ales of devices by Expansys and others was to trim down their stock to match the new product lineup.

I would suspect that we will see similar price points as we did before the 'best' started carrying the 64GB SSD as standard. That would be 'good' at $1299, 'better' at $1699, and 'best' at $2199 - about a 30% difference between models. OQO will load what it can into each model based on the price point.

I don't know why an outdoor display costs so much, but for the tablets I've seen with an effective one, it tends to be a premium option. I would hope it can make it into the 'better' range but I doubt it will be standard throughout the line.

Here's my guess:

good - 1.3GHz Atom, 1GB RAM, HDD, touch only screen
better - 1.6GHz Atom, 2GB RAM, SSD, active digitizer and touch screen
best - 1.8GHz Atom, 2GB RAM, SSD, active digitizer and touch outdoor screen

I hope we can buy soon the new models and a real announcement soon from OQO company and marketing departament.

I see now Expansys web, and there is even less models for order or in stock. They put 28 October as date for new stock.

Only the time will say if OQO 'will be the biggest winner from marketing spends from competitiors'.

'So can we all chill out a bit here and let the OQO marketing team do their job.'
OQO marketing team will do their job, but they as smart guys hear all feedback of actual or posible OQO users... like you and me. I only say... I can't sell OQO now. I can't buy OQO now....because models are OUT OF STOCK. So hurry up OQO! We are all waiting  Grin Via or Nano? I  Grin ONLY want 2Gb + Touch Screen + Cooler + Better batery life + 2 Camera + GPS, like Gigabyte M528 but with OQO best form factor.

We all understand your anxiety, having customers waiting tends to do that.

But you are really sounding like a broken record.  Do a search of your posts and count how many times you have said the above or something like it.  That is what was meant by "chill out".   Please give it a rest or at least don't put the same content into every post.

I read in gottabemobile that Rob Bushway, comment to Bob Rosin, OQO's new CEO, that OQO will continue to be active in communities like OQOTalk and I gottabemobile.

When i express an opinion, my opinion (interesting for some, boring and repetitive for other), i hope OQO could say 'something'.

When i have a problem with another provider, Microsoft, HP, Dell or little companies, always we have a response... Almost a 'Soon we resolve the problem'....is so easy.

I think it is more or equal important the support to customers / partners / software developers, that in this case... the product / device OQO sell (OQO 02+ / 03).

Thanks, dlach. I was getting pretty tired of the same repetitious posts too.

I've lost track of the multiple
"I love OQO but why are they silent?! What are their marketing people doing?!! I WANT OQO to release their next model NOW, running XXX at XXXGhz, with XXXMB, XXX, XXX & XXX built-in, dual/multi-touch/passive/active screens, with voice/data/gps/tv, XXX DAYS battery life, thinner, and cost less than XXX MIDs/PVRs/Nintendo DS mockup/etc..  which XXX company can do it so why not OQO (see urls here, here, here, here and here), or OQO will surely lose their market leadership and disappoint ALL of us (but mostly me)"
type of posts... interspersed with copius amounts of smileys.

Placido, I know that you're super enthusiastic but you need to chill. If your plan is to nag and repeat yourself until you get a response from OQO, please consider writing directly to them and sparing the rest of the good folks around here. I think you know that this board is not run by OQO.

P.S. You know you're beginning to sound like you-know-who, right? Smiley

Marketing plans are not a "problem"!  Microsoft, HP, Dell, etc will only tell you about new products when they are good and ready.  Apple is a master at this.

If you deploy for iPhone, Blackberry, OQO, PDA, Nokia, etc. Only you need one thing..SUPPORT.

See the topics I open, i think you read only what you want:

WPF Programming
http://www.oqotalk.com/index.php/topic,3084.0.html

OQO SDK
http://www.oqotalk.com/index.php/topic,2946.0.html

SQL Server 2008
http://www.oqotalk.com/index.php/topic,3133.0.html

If a topic is opened for debate next models... why i can't say what i want, and not what do you want? Sorry, my intention is support OQO community. If you are tired of my posts, excuse me, but i continue posting what i think or i am interested in.

I say to Picasso open a Software Forum only for developers...but at this moment is impossible. So... I tried it Smiley

P.S. I am free of put smileys on my posts anywhere.   Wink Thanks

Placido,

Just because you start a thread doesn't mean you own it or give you the right to spam the forum.

Bungee put it very well:

This is not OQO's support forum.  This is a community board.  Personally, I like your enthusiasm and I like reading most of your posts.  I'm not looking to shut you up.   But I don't like the repetition I mentioned before and I doubt anyone else does.   I think what you are hearing is a respectful and decent request here.   So please listen to what you are hearing.   Or should the topic of this thread be "is it ready yet? is it ready yet? is it? is it?"   If that is what you intend this thread to be about I, then I'll gladly stop reading it, but I will also protest what consider to be spamming and a misuse of the forum.
