I want voice capability!  hehe

Hey all,

Well I know there have been quite a few topics on what improvements / upgrades we'd like to see implemented into the 03 (or future models), but I thought it would be interesting to see what upgrade would be most desired if we only had the choice of one of the above.

Stu Smiley

I have to disagree with having the oqo 03 released with voice support.  I used to have a htc advantage and while it was a great pda, it suffered as a phone. There was no vibration mode and I suspect this was because of the hard drive. It was also awkward to carry it on days when I just wore some shorts and a t shirt. Im using this as an example because the size is almost identical to the oqo.

If there was anything I wanted in the next oqo, it would be a dual os mode similar to the htc shift where it runs vista and windows mobile. I believe they already have the perfect form factor for this.

Now that's kind of intriguing!  Windows mobile when you just need an instant-on, internet device, but you can dual boot when you need the full power of windows.  Huh!!

I really like the instant on feature.  Wish they could get it right for a real OS.

I guess the feature I want most for the O3 is a "laptop docking station".  I've mentioned it in these forums before and I think someone said OQO kicked it around some.

Right after I got my O2, my HP mobile workstation croaked and I've been using the O2 as pretty much my only machine for about 7 months now.   It has done darn well but sometimes I wish I could slot it into a laptop "docking station" with a  15" 1900x1200 screen, full size keyboard and DvD burner.

Scattered all over this forum are wishes and desirable specifications for the OQO 03.  If OQO company is to start "adjusting" the specifications for their new product, then it is going to get onto the downhill slide very quickly.  Therefore, I can see some forum members are going to be disappointed.

Of course, it's great to read the wish lists, but these would have to be for the 04 or even 05.  Apart from that, I get the impression that few have actually bothered to read Dennis' statement and which appears on his own blog.  In particular I mean his phrase "I regret that I will not be in the company as it brings truly groundbreaking new products out the door in the future"

I take this to mean that OQO have undertaken some serious, but active, future product planning projects and I, for one, am content to wait for new product announcements. (albeit with a degree of impatience).  Afterall, if the new 03 doesn't do what I want it to do then it is simple, I'll be p....d off, make do with what I've got and hope the 04 will satisfy my requirements

True, but it's always fun to wish and speculate a bit. Even if OQO aren't able to implement any of these wishes into the 03, I'm sure the feedback from users in the forum will be useful for future models as you stated.

That's a good point.  I highly doubt you can influence an O3 at this point.  I know it's only in my head, but these posts would go over better with me if they said "this is what I wish is in the O4".  But, for an O4 you would need to raise the expectations well above today's technology.  I guess that's what makes it frustrating.  The requests are for today's technology in a device that I hope is well past the feature design stage.

Okay.

For the OQO4 I want a 3GHz dual core Atom running 64 bit Windows; a separate GPU; 8GB of RAM; dual, mirrored 128GB SSDs; a clamshell design with two displays and no keyboard but, instead, voice, ink, and multi-touch input; WiMax; under 10 ounces; under 0.75 inches thick, and under $2500.

I just thought of something else!!  How about advanced notification of the next model only to the loyal OQOTalk.com community to be sent out exactly one day prior to the rest of the tech world?  Kind of like stores that offer a one-day sale to their regular customers...  I mean really, who else is more loyal and interested in OQO than our group?

How cool would that be??   Shocked

How about a presale too so we be first in line?

I find myself drawn to the dark side. The new PC Mag mentions the MIUTech Hybrid Dual as yet another product not available stateside (or, in fact, anywhere outside of South Korea). Except for the lack of an active digitizer, I really like the concept: All-In-One Device - Cellular Phone + Mobile Personal Computer + Multi-Purpose Additional Service .

Well, as much as I love my OQO. I'm not going to be the first in line when the new model debuts. I usually hang back a little, read reviews, early-adopter experiences before I commit. It's my general rule for new electronics but more so for OQO based on my personal experience of their reliability. This is especially so if OQO manages to make the new units smaller or thinner, since heat management appears to be a big factor relating to product failures these days (e.g. Xbox 360, nVidia).

Hey, but don't let that stop the rest of you guinea pigs loyalists! Wink

I reckon that's a great idea! I wonder what ever happened to OQOs upgrade / affiliate programs that they were going to offer? Huh

The more required feature is "Faster CPU (VIA NANO)"...
And more memory 2G or perhaps 3G.

I hope OQO put this in OQO 03 and not in OQO 05  Grin
