Can you get 1000x600 default on Vista? Mirror display?

I am trying out Vista to see if it helps with the freezing problems I have had while running XP. Does anyone know how to make 1000x600 the default resolution? It always goes back to 800x480 when I restart. With XP it would startup in 1000x600 if that's what you shut down in.
Also, any idea of how to get a mirrored display? It only seems to want to do either a display on the unit, or on my monitor, or an extended desktop, but no mirror. With XP I could mirror at 1000x600.
Thanks!

Any thoughts? I can mirror by default now that the S3 icon mysteriously disappeared from the icons in the lower right.
But when not docked, I get defaulted to 800x480 even when resuming from standby.
