Not related to OQO, but seems Mac mini (due March) will be getting Ion:

Sounds great! I was actually quite surprised that the new Mac Minis and new iMacs were not released at this year's MacWorld and was actually quite disappointed at the lack of new products (I was expecting a bit more from Apple).

The nVidia Ion platform is awesome, but it needs too much power for the OQO right now. Maybe the new version for OQO model 3...

I'm under impressed with this announcement. But I guess they are trying to maintain a price point.
Also with Steve Jobs bill of health at the moment, who can blame apple for a lack of products. That place runs on Steve.
Also is it just me, or does anyone else think the 17in macbook pro battery is a totally stupid piece of garbage? Built into it, it cost almost $200 to replace, and who cares if you run out of charge and don't have a place to charge because you can't swap an extra battery in there anyway.
Yes apple fan children, please explain to me how this proprietary stunt equals anything but dumb?

Edit: As a sidenote there is nothing funny about anyone having bad health. I do sincerely hope Steve gets better. And while I'm busting apple chops a little with the macbook, I really do like a lot of their products.

Yes, I also thought that. I like the new capacitive (
) charging technology, but the fact that the battery is not user-replaceable does seem rather stupid.
Yes, I also hope Steve gets better soon. He has done an amazing job with that company. Phil did a great job delivering the MacWorld keynote speech, but I don't think Steve could ever be outdone.

Actually, it is an advantage. First, you will never need to replace the battery. Second, you will enjoy much larger battery time between recharges. Get the facts here:

What I do NOT like is the glossy screen. I rather have a matte display.

Most apple products have built in batteries.. once the battery dies for the most part it is not worth the money to replace the battery.
The benefits of battery built into the device are there but like the OQO i would rather have external. How many people have issues with batteries nowerdays ? Pop it off and put on a new one.

Why's that? We have one of the older 17" MBPs at home and I think the glossy screen is wonderful - all of the colours seem so much more vibrant. That's why I love the 02s display, it's beautiful!

Well, glossy displays are like mirrors: you can see yourself on the screen! Certainly, not good when you work in front of a window or for professional work.

the facts you say?
well i trust apple to tell me poop smells like cinnamon rolls if it's their poop. im not saying the battery doesn't have some advantages. i just don't like the proprietary gimmick they are using to force people to rely on them more. also the battery will die, and i predict way before apple says they will.

i don't agree. this has everything to do with OQO. Although Atom is impressive, for OQO to
stay in play with the market, it needs to consider the improvements made to each new version
it releases.
Ion is putting fire under Intel's butt to get cracking... I'm glad

Secretly I am hoping Ion for OQO 3 (w/ dual core Atom) - but battery life would probably suffer from what it seems...
Another thing I am wishing is hopefully not to wait another 2 years for model 3 to come out (spring of 2011?)
