If you plan to us the OQO 2+ with AT&T you'll need a SIM CARD from them with an account (and this will give you a number regardless of if you want/need the nr or not) I believe the unlimited data package is $59.99 currently(?), you used to be able to get the AT&T to go prepaid card and add unlimited data to it for $19.99/mo, this is no longer offered, the only way to get it now (if you don't already have it) is by finding such an ACTIVE card (find as in locate and buy 2nd hand!) that has had the medianet unlimited service active all along THEN it can be used still, this is in fact I believe the cheapest 3G unlimited option in USA currently. I did that in preparation for some 3G handheld device (have the Aigo MID for now with XP) since I myself use Tmo and would like 3G speeds.
P.S. In Taxi from LV airport to CES

High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) is a collection of mobile telephony protocols. The most common is High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) which is available in the US through AT&T.
With regards to HSDPA - do i need a cell phone for this? If so, it defeats my purpose of not having to get a phone. If not, how what do you know about AT&T's service and rates?
Do you need a cell phone? No. If all you want to do is data, there should be data plans available from most major carriers. And note that the chipset will work with other carriers as well as AT&T. See this post:
http://www.oqotalk.com/index.php/topic,3374.msg27187.html#msg27187
However, if you are expecting to make phone calls using the OQO, it's a dicier proposition. There is no way to add a carrier's voice service to the data service through the OQO. A Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) product like Skype will work but not all carriers appreciate your using their data service to avoid their voice service. You'd have to check the limitations on their particular plan.

That is my main concern in a nutshell, to use data unlimited with NO VOICE. Echoing what you said, i would use skype. Why not?
As for carriers with HSDPA in the US - are we limited to AT&T? I ask because Verizon and Sprint are offering DATA PLANS at $59.99 but are limited to 5gb a month - that's crap!!
I'd like unlimited. Do you know if there are multiple carriers making this offer - Who are they? And, of course, a service i can use with the 02+ ...
thanks

If you want 3G data in the USA with the 2+ your options are EVDO: Sprint / Verizon (sorry think I said Nexttel above) and HSPA (aka 3G GSM): AT&T.
Keep in mind there's no "true" unlimited from anyone, they all have fine print that allows them to terminate your account if they feel you've been overusing it. Very rare that this happens though so far.

Could someone please explain why there is no webcam as a standard feature on the 2+. Also why is there no "SD" slot....!!!!
Come on someone please answer this for me...?? We are talking about $999 couldn't they have made room for these two small additions.
For goodness sake this is standard on a simple cheap $60 cell phone. Could this be added by shipping time in Q2...?? Place it in the upper right-hand corner of the screen on the edge.
Someone please respond. >

no one has brought up a webcam on an OQO, not here, and not in at least a year. It's not really a very widely requested feature
I think there's been 3 posts on it, oddly all by you, and your total of 3 posts
as for SD slot, it takes up quite a bit of internal space, on a device where space is a huge premium

Okay granted that may have been the case but shouldn't someone have been asking for this inexpensive addition...?? I think so and I'm not the only person. There is a thread that ask for these very features.
Don't you think it should have a webcam?

It has been referenced in other threads, and even official by oqo tech support, that a lot of the features people, such as yourself, might assume would be a given, are not added for a variety of reasons. Mainly that space, increase in overall cost to the consumer, battery power, etc. are reasons why a webcam, sd slot, etc. where not added. Could they have been? Probably, but the oqo is streamlined as has been said before to appeal the business class user.
Throwing every gadget plus the kitchen sink into the device only pleases a few. It is the masses OQO is, and rightly so, interested in appealing too.
That said. Get one. You wont regret it.

It really is a shame that folk just want you to just go away when you ask question they think has no relevance to the title of a thread.
The title above is "The new OQO specs "model 2+"". So....., with that I believe the questions I have been asking are on target. Folk I'm only asking for these features because I believe they will make the OQO product more appealing to the mass market. The PSP and cell phone generation. Not to just a few of you guys that think this device should be for a chosen few.
The "Sony Vaio UX" devices appeared to be the real competition for the OQO if not for its crappy keyboard. It was feature complete with all the expected hardware of a moder computing device. Yes it is larger than the OQO but while using it there was really no need to reach for any additional hardware as everything you wanted to do was available. Even if you used it only once in a while. This makes this a very easy device to sell do a larger market base. A device without compromise. Unfortunately they had a super crap keyboard and the thing had to much plastic.
Please everyone I can really see the OQO being everything for everyone with those few additions. With more folk walking around with an OQO like folk walking around with the iPhone image what that world would be like.
Mercy.......!!!!! Guys that would be truly be awesome. Almost "Star Trek" like. I hope the "Model 03" looks something like the image below with SD slot and camera included. The rectangular screen would be able to support the resolution request too. Looks to be a 6.5 - 7" OLED. I don't like the tilting screen but maybe you folk do.
