I've pre-ordered an oqo 2+ from expansys 2 months ago. When I check my order status today it says the item was discontinued. Any one knows what happened on expansys or oqo?

Oops! Virtually ALL OQO models at eXpansys (any site worldwide) have vanished! That could mean this:

OQO model 2+ with Intel Atom 2.0 GHz (Z550) instead of Intel Atom 1.86GHz (Z540
http://www.oqotalk.com/index.php/topic,3649.0.html

Hopefully!

I think OQO and Expansys have had a parting of company. I don't think Expansys will be supplying any OQO's when their current stocks have been exhausted. From what I can gather from speaking with one particular chap was that they were not happy about dealing with RMA's for OQO. He did not actually say they were not dealing with them again but when you weigh up the facts, it seems plausable.

Expansys no longer deal with OQO RMA's
Expansys UK dont even list the 02+ as coming soon. Let alone offering pre-orders.
Expansys UK is only selling, listing the very high end models that they have so far failed to shift. These are the last ones at Expansys UK and they are not dicounted. They are still well expensive.

Just my thoughts of course, I could be way off the path here.

If Expansys don't support, which is the first provider for OQO 2+ in europe? Mobix?
How the people know OQO will put Atom 2.0 Ghz in OQO 2+?

I think OQO is in troubles and Expansys has a lot with OQO RMA and their customers.

I hope that OQO moving to Intel technology, provide us a more stable and quality device.

Certainly seems like there has been a parting of the ways between eXpansys and OQO. I suspect it stems from the likelihood that OQO builds a cutting-edge worlds-best UMPC to a serious specification rather than down to a price. There are still sufficient consumers worldwide to generate profits from such a quality product. Sure there are reported logistics delays but none seem to remain unresolved. My prediction is that OQO will continue while their cirrent owner-management team remains focused. Long may this be !

. . .

This is what I've heard as well. Expansys got tired of putting up with OQO's high failure rate and waning support, then decided to cut the ties to and no longer support OQO.

eXpansys still appears as an OQO international seller but OQO's site appears unchanged since early February consistent with their likely preoccupation with the OQO2+ launch.

Hello,
yesterday I sent a mail to Expansys Italy asking why the Oqo 2+ appears discontinued on the website. I still didn't get any answer but I'll keep you update as soon as they will reply to me. Looks to me that really Expansys doesn't want to sell Oqo anymore.
Ciao

I have just called eXpansys and they have told me that they no longer sell OQO, due to the high failure rate of OQO computers and due to the OQO problems as a company. Oops!

That's too bad, I really like the OQO; none of the other UMPCs appeals to me at all.  They are either notebook style, and therefore not convenient to use on the go, or they have funky keyboard layouts or are just too large.  I think that the model 02 (and upcoming 2+) are beautiful devices and I have not experienced any problems.

Bum deal, can't say I'm not surprised by this confirmation though.

Why can't OQO deal directly with international customers? I am in the US and everything I do with the company (original purchase, RMA, etc) is done through the mail and the telephone. I don't understand why they need an overseas reseller. Let them charge $10 more for postage if they have to ship a unit to another country. A large proportion of the complaints seem to come from the international users. They should take care of everything themselves right now before they trash their reputation.

You just might get your wish...

Just a guess here, but it seems to me that if the original agreement with eXpansys is now void (as other posters have suggested), then OQO now has the choice to either find a new partner, or take-on international support and distribution themselves.  Maybe they'll start dealing directly... Who knows?
