My 50/50 prediction falls into the dirt. Sending back units unrepaired is something they would never do unless we are at the end. Also I just spoke with a dealer who said the chance of getting a 2+ is very close to 0. So I guess its all over.

It's amazing that OQO are sending back machines without a word of explanation, just as they have never bothered to communicate with their loyal customer base, for example via this forum which they were happy to participate in during the good times.
I think we can all sympathize with the position they're in right now. Nobody wanted to see this happen and, even now, many would be be prepared to offer support if that were possible.
Equally, we can all feel sympathy for OQO employees who find themselves in a difficult situation in these difficult economic times.
But at least throw us a bone with some sort of communication!

I know right??? That's my main beef with them. They have had my OQO for 2 months and I was NEVER told what the delay was caused by. My OQO was RMA'ed fully functional and I hope it is returned that way.

I suspect that lawyers are the problem. For example, it may be something along the lines of if they say that they are unable to service units under warranty, this would give banks an excuse to call in loans that are not yet in default.

Am I missing something... did they actually send people back units that were not repaired?
OMG this is awful. I really didnt think this would happen and have been hoping that they would survive but really am worried now. What will we do with all our OQO's (which by the way are all under warranty for the extended warranty). Seriously...
This is truly a sad day. Maybe someone will save them! But I doubt it at this point.

Hey guys, I know I've been saying it again and again (and I probably sound like a broken record - lol), but OQO is NOT out of business yet. OQO still have a lot of options available to them, and many cards up their sleeve, so let's not jump the gun just yet. Let's do our best to remain positive and support the company we love. Stu

I second that. I'm not ordering any of the alternatives suggested elsewhere. For now my 02 still has better specs than anything else and I'm still ready to buy the 2+ when it comes out. OQO can still make it. Look at Palm. People left it for dead but with the Pre it looks like they could be a market leader again.

I just picked up a few accessories at a screaming deal from BuildYourUMPC.com. May as well take advantage if they're offering good deals! Sandy

I am also an avid Palm supporter and for the last few years there has been nothing but speculation about them going down the drain due to the lack of a new O.S. (how many losses did they have in a row again , it was a massive amount!). The Pre has changed this, and I believe the 2+ will also change this. Let's not forget where Apple was a decade ago. Stu

But Palm never stopped answering their phones. Palm never stopped anything to do with repair or warranty work. Palm never sent back units without repairing them. By the way I give credit to the OQO folks for doing this so that people's units do not get caught up in the bankruptcy. I don't think that the analogies hold at all.

Perhaps a better analogy is the OQO 01. As I recall it was over a year between the initial prototype announcement and the eventual production shipping. The reason was the same then as now - lack of funding. OQO still has some deep pockets backing them including Motorola. While it is possible they could be driven into bankruptcy it is also possible they could survive as a company (with their intellectual property including the 2+ design and their patents) but just remain dormant until the economy improves. It probably depends on their debt situation which we don't have any insight into.

They did in Australia. I had a Treo 750 that I tried getting repaired for three months and had it sent back twice - first time without even being looked at. In the end my phone provider (Three) were so sick of having to try and deal with Palm that they had someone drive down from their main W.A. store to give me a brand new HTC Tytn II so I at least had something to work with and they offered me a full refund of everything I had spent on my phone since I had had the Treo 750 (I accepted the new handset but would obviously not accept a refund of my phone bill). On top of this I had some Three guy from the U.K. ring up and apologize expressing his disgust in Palm stating that Three were considering their policy of dealing with them again. What did Palm do for me during this time? Nothing. Please don't think I'm sounding negatively about Palm, because I have generally always been happy with my Palm handhelds and will definitely purchase a Palm Pre when they are released in Australia, but I'm just wanting to show that over here Palm was in a desperate state and not even my own phone provider could get in contact with them.
