Hello everyone,

I'm a little new to the OQO but I really have enjoyed using it since I've had mine. I'm interested in two things...

1. Making the device a DUAL BOOT device with Windows XP Pro and a version of Linux. Does anyone have a SIMPLE way I can do this as I already have Windows XP Pro installed.

2. What's the best / better version of Linux to run on the OQO so that everything will work? I really like UNIX and wanted to install a version of Linux on the device so I can play with it and become more familiar with it so until I have enough money to buy a new desktop for the house to drop it on, this is my only solution. Can you recommend the best / better version of Linux to put on the device to still have all functions work and functionality of the device? I know that some features won't be able to work but I'm more interested in the WWAN and WiFi access.

There is a thread in the Linux subforum about Ubuntu, which allows most features to work.

Yeah, I saw the one about Ubuntu 8.10, I think that was it. The one with the links to the OS ISO files. I've downloaded them and as soon as I can find a CD/DVD reader which my OQO actually boots to, I'm going to give it a whirl.

Install Linux first. When you create the Linux partition be sure to leave room for Linux. After Linux is installed, install Linux. Most distributions will automatically configure your system to dual boot and automatically create the Linux partitions. Ubuntu does. I know because I am using it. It is that easy.

As far as hardware, just check the system requirements for Linux and the distro of Linux you choose. Pay particular attention to the hard drive space requirements so you know how to partition the hard drive.
