Issues i see is, over heating, and sliding out they keyboard, unless you use it as a tablet at the time its waterproofed. Let me know, it would be cool..

I suppose in a pinch the thing could just be put in a plastic bag with perhaps some holes for air.  Maybe otterbox will make or has a case that it fits in?  I agree, it would be cool to take it out in the elements, especially since it has the outdoor viewable screen.

Kenrick, just how viewable is the 02 in the outdoors?  My Garmin GPS60Cs and 2610 units are gorgeous in bright sunlight, and they are both active matrix screens...and the 2610 is a touchscreen.  I was hoping the 02 would do just as well as those units in the sunshine.  The 01+ might have had a transflective screen, but it was useless.

It's very viewable outdoors!  There is some glare in direct sunlight, but it's quite readable without the glare.  I'll post a pic of it later.

Thank you very much, that is greatly appreciated.  Man, I cannot wait to have this little computer...it is like the culmination of 20 years of waiting for something exactly like this...

Actually, I have been waiting for something like the Flipstart, but in the OQO size.

It got sunny enough that I got a better chance to use the OQO 02 in strong sun, and I have to amend my previous post -- the screen is hard to see in full, direct sunlight.  Aside from the glare it's just hard to see, although with a little repositioning I was able to read what I wanted to.   It's fine to read in the shade, though.

You could use a zip-lock bag for briefly, maybe, but I suspect heat and condensation would be problems.

For a longer-term setup, you would have to deal with heat, perhaps via heat pipes and a large external heat sink (like the ones used for passive cooling of mid-range graphics cards).

Are any of the Panasonic Toughbooks waterproof? If so, you could see how they solved the problem.
