They're here !!!!!

I got mine to today at RCS in Manhattan. They have 16 units in only 1 configuation.
XP Pro
1 GB RAm
60 GIG HD
Hooray !!!! I just had to have one. Wish I had a camera to do an unboxing video.
P.S. Seems to me the reason for delay is that they spent more time designing the box than the device itself

Awesome... please post a review! I'm looking forward to a real customer review, most of the stuff online is the press release junk.

ok i'm kinda new at this so here goes. I call RCS in manhattan about 10am and they said they had 17 units in the config i posted before. i wanted the 1499 model. But when they said they on had the 1849 model without vista. i didnt care. So i told them 2 hold a unit for me. about 45 mins later. Ibought it. I was so excited. I open it asap. It comes in a beautiful black box. and within the box 3 smaller boxes. One with contain the unit, the other power cord, and finally the documentation and disks. i turned it on and it had a 70%
charge alredy connected. I didn't like that . But i was goona turn it on anyway. I'm quite sure it somes with a screen protector alredy on it . Judging the bubbles i saw in the screen . Not a problem the bubbles came out. It feels pretty solid. I was on the subway and people were in awe. asking me what is that. And i'm feeling pretty [bleep] good knowing i'm that i'm one of the first 2 have it. The screen is awesome. Even at the number 2 setting. to save the battery it still looks good. Colors are vibrant. contrast excellent. Didn't have time 2 check it outdoors since it's been raining all day in NYC. Keyboard feels good. I bought a digital pen from the 01 model and it works. Needs some getting used to. Since i'm used to a touchscreen. I'm charging the battery now. I'll keep u posted. So far the ultimate device.

I got mine too! Fedex dropped it off this afternoon. I got the Tablet XP version. I have to say it is one sweet machine. My wife says I've been geeking out over it since the kids went to sleep.
For anyone interested in benchmarks, I ran PCMark05 on the 02 and posted results here:
http://www.math.uaa.alaska.edu/~afkjm/techteach/?q=node/18
It's no speed demon, but so far it seems to work well for general productivity apps.

I'm trying to run vista business. Thanks to your site jkotr i got it free participating in the power together program several months back. Your site rocks. Anyway, i manage to get the wifi, bluetooth, and just about eveything else running. Ieven downloaded the origami pack from microsoft and its awesome. The problems are the zoom feature doesn't work.
Your're stuck with the native resolution. left to right touchscrolls scrolls up and down. Can't dim or brigten the screen. Video is choppy on vista. And vista is a batter killer. These seems 2 be driver issues. Other than that vista seems ok. Itried to talk oqo into given me the vista upgrade. But they wasn't having none of that. You would thing with the delays and all they could redeem themselves of bit by sending me a copy. After all i'm not rich. This gadjet is 1849.

just curious, if you received you're fedex shipment, was this direct from OQO? Sorry for the confusion on my part. Also, had you been monitoring the status on the OQO site. My status STILL shows "processing", but every day I anxiously hope Fedex will show up anyway. When I ordered the OQO, the shipment arrived, and I hadn't been warned by OQO yet.
Still leaving for vacation on Monday so today's my last day of hoping.....

@Kenrick - congrats! Finally starting to see more orders shipped!
I couldn't find any of your posts indicating timeline. When did you order yours & did you order from OQO online, Dynamism, or one of the other resellers?
Also, I was told thru OQO online they were going to ship the XP January orders with the Express Vista upgrade DVD, you did not mention that so I assume you did not recieve it, or ordered from one of the resellers?
Nice report on the performance check but was wondering on your test methodology. Did you perform any preparation prior to the tests such as a disk check/defrag, disable certain background tasks (virus scan, index services, WiFi, BT), tweak anything (video memory), etc...?
I'm a little embarrassed to report that I ordered long after most of you. My order was placed on 2/2, but with Dynamism. So it would seem that both will6316 and I got lucky by purchasing through resellers that appear to have gotten the first shipment (along with VIP's like Just Blaze). Mine has XP Tablet but no WWAN. Sorry, I feel bad for all of you that ordered directly from OQO on 1/7! Doesn't seem fair for me to get one before you, but I don't feel so bad that I'd trade with you :-)
On the PCMark05 test I didn't do any prep on the machine. I can say that it was a clean machine from the factory. The first thing that was installed was PCMark and then I ran the test, so there's no virus scanner, indexer, or tweaking from the factory install.
As you say the most useful benchmark is how well it actually performs under real conditions! I'm going to try putting Vista Business on mine a little later too and see if there is a way to work through the issues posted by will.

I received mine 4/4/07 after waiting what seemed like forever, and I must say I am impressed! I too got the 1.5GHz 1GB RAM 60GB model, ordered from dynamism.com way back when (i forget exactly).
I haven't tried to install Vista yet, but I did jump on Mickeysoft's extra keys purchase availability for Vista Ultimate Home, and have one waiting for my new OQO 02. XPP however does perform quite well, as one coworker commented, "That thing is faster than my laptop!"
I did install a copy of Office 2007 the night I got it, and so far it seems more than capable of handling that. I do alot of Excel work and being able to carry my spreadsheets in my pocket is a real boost for me.
I haven't done any benchmarking yet (not really my thing), but I may, just to see how it stacks up.
I did install Halo Combat Evolved to see how well I could tolerate trying to play a serious game on this thing. I've played for about 2 hours so far, and other than getting used to the key layout, it is what I would call tolerable. I wouldn't want to try to play online, or even get into a LAN game, but for kicking back while traveling it will do.
I have copied a couple movies (DVD Rips) to the HDD and it works quite well as a portable entertainment system. The display is much easier on my eyes than the tiny screen of my video ipod, but the speaker lacks bass (no, I won't sell you mine just because of this miniscule shortcoming.) Understandably concessions must be made for portability and if this is the only one, then so be it.
I carry a Motorola KRZR cell phone, and use Mobile Phone Tools to synch it to my PC and load ringtones and pics that way. This app is also on the OQO and works perfectly over Bluetooth. I usually cut up .mp3s on my PC to make ringtones, and this little gem seems like it will let me take that show on the road as well.
THe OQO linked right up with my 802.11g home network and allowed file transfer as wel as if not better than my laptop. I'm sure distance will be more of an issue when the signal degrades, but I can live with that too.
If you're looking for portable hardcore computing power to replace a desktop, this probably isn't it, BUT if you're looking to replace a laptop and a PDA with one unit that can do just about anything the laptop could do then by all means pick up one of these little machines.
I have to give a shout out to Angie for telling me about dyanmism so many months ago. I totally love this machine.
Well done OQO!

I see the images of using the stylus. How was it? With the 01, there was that terrible pressure point visible around where the stylus was. Is this still the case with the 02, or has the stylus input been improved?
