It's slow as molassis but a real compromise. My vista business is slow.
Tell me it's worth it...please.
Do some things not work or problems?

YES, it is worth it!!!  IMHO xp works much better than Vista on the 02.  I have found no drawbacks at all, only faster loading of the OS and programs, less lock-ups and the cpu just doesn't seem to have to work as hard (runs cooler/less jet turbine fan).  Well at least that's my observations between the two.

I used Vista for over a year and then got a good deal on an xp unit.  Night and day.  The xp unit has the same exact programs and such and I had stripped down Vista to the bear essentials.  XP is just better on the 02.

You can get all of the drivers at www.oqoasis.com

Thanks for that.  I've tweaked and even msconfig.exe 'd to turn off all sorts of services, avoided unnecessary "upgrades", and just can't deal.

I do not have a real on-cd copy of XP.  I have 2 other laptops, one has Xp Home that came on it with license sticker under it but have no real disks except what's in THAT pc's recovery discs.  The other machine got some tweaks off of a disk that was hong kong xp professional but that fails validity now thus unable to get the SP2 or 3.

so without real disks maybe i should just buy Win7.
Are you considering that?  It seems several things aren't working properly in full yet for those pioneers.
Perhaps someone here has a real valid copy of XP on cd/dvd to sell?

What you need is an XP recovery disc with an unused product key/serial number.  I'm sure you can get a copy of the disc from someone here.  Maybe you can buy the serial number as well.
I did that about six months ago but the version that I got was one of the first recovery discs ever made.  It was even missing one or two things found on later released discs.  So just be careful of what you buy.

I've been following all of the Win7 discussions on the board and so far I haven't seen a reason for me to upgrade from XP.  If I were upgrading from Vista it would be a no brainer but I guess I'll just hold off for now.

Well in my view xp is the better option. As you mention vista is quite time consuming . But i would like to give you another options i.e.windows 7.It has graphic quality of vista and working capability of xp.Its a mix up of both os. But some software which run on xp can't work with it. Be sure of it

this is the option i  took and alot on here do,fresh install of windows xp on a gparted ssd or hdd and  then install windows 7 or a linux os on the other partition, drivers for both xp and vista are still available to download on oqoasis.com so you will have no problems,or failing that if i were you i would not hesitate to stick windows 7 ultimate over the top of your vista install and then just sit back and watch the amazing transformation off your oqo.
it will be like having a new machine.
