Okay, this happened just now.

I visited Youtube to watch some videos and I noticed that I wasn't emitting any sound. I thought maybe Youtube was doing so daily maintenance or something so I tried playing a song directly off of my HDD.....still, no sound.

By that point I was getting a bit tense. So, I proceded down the normal check list of troubleshooting. I checked the Volume, Master Volume, my Audio Drivers and Codecs. Everything seems to be in place and in order.

This is where things get really frustrating. I thought to myselft, the only thing I know left to do is simply restart. Simply, right? I hit restart and when going through the normal boot sequence, my E2 goes to a blue screen and the mouse is frozen and the keys non-responsive. I don't know too much about computers but I can tell you that the blue screen did not look like the "blue screen of death". It was blue, but it no message or anything written on it. Just blue.

I tried to restart my E2 again by holding down the power button and doing a manual power down, but when it proceded to go through the boot sequece again, the screen wouldn't display anything. I tried it again, and again, the screen remained completely black. It looks like its not even receiving power.

So, I am asking the OQO Talk community to please help me out! I spent almost all of my savings on this computer and I don't want it to start malfunctioning.

Thanks,
J.

Is "it" the screen only or the OQO? (If the OQO had no power the power button would not light either.)

Can you take a few pictures of you E2 with the symptoms you are referring to? Also, please take a picture of the lighted power LED. Lastly, when you turn the power on, do you see the OQO white letters appeared? This way, we can assist you further.

If you see the oqo splash screen appear and then after a few moments your screen goes blue it is probably your hard drive or less likely a virus.   Can you get to the bios?

Thank you for the support. My apologies, I've been out of town on family matters and therefore I haven't responded.

No, the splash screen with the logo definitely does NOT appear. It seems like the screen doesn't even turn on Sad

For sure, I can post some pictures of the E2 and bootup sequence.

See, that's what's strange. The power button does indicate that the unit is on but that's about it. It is comepletly unresponsive.

Once, again, thank you folks for your support. I will have the pictures up with in a few hours. Would it also help if I post a video of the startup? Another thing, someone asked me to post the BIOs, but I'm not sure what that means or how to do that.

Thanks,
J.

You have a cpu failure on the motherboard.

This is not currently repairable.

You can either sell it for spares or pay for a new motherboard through teleplan or possibly Picasso.

However, I suspect that there actually are no new motherboards left by now so that may no longer be an option.

All OQOs need an annual service to prevent overheating.

I am out of 1.5/1.6 MB's I can not offer repair at this time. 2-3 weeks I hope to get a good number of MB's back for sale with exchange or repair.

This user should run the memtest86 or other memory testing app.
