You know I have problems with oqo o2 since I bought it. I couldnt use it properly since day 1 as it sometimes opens, sometimes not, sometimes freezes, etc... I think CMOS battery may be dead... Any idea where it is and how i can change it? I opened the oqo but couldnt find it  Huh

hello,

the cmos battery is below the screen on the little board where you plug the screen ribbon.is just below a black tape on top right corner of this little board.you have to remove the screen to access to this board.

But unfortunately I read your other thread and if you followed all the advice and did several installation of different version of windows you have probably a hardware issue.
the cmos battery is probably not the problem.

It's seems a motherboard failure like all the other.

on the oqo 02 most of the motherboard failure are CPU failure.the VIA c7-m ulv (particularly the 1.6 but also the 1.5) fail by overheating.it's a micro bga2 cpu which means that two hundred minuscule ball below the cpu make the link with the motherboard.when one or several of this ball breaks the oqo don't boot, just power light but nothing else. But if the ball have just a crack the oqo can boot for a second,a minute or several hours, all depends on the temperature at the ball will no longer make contact.it's a explanation of a lot of half failure I saw on this forum.subséquent the faulty balls the failures is differents but almost always(90%) cause by CPU.
The last test you can do it's to use a external hard drive(select boot on it in the cmos setup) to install a simple windows xp to be sure it's not the hard drive or the hard drive cable.

But if this don't work, your motherboard is problably dead.

Before you extract the battery, try to reset your BIOS to default. Also, measure the actual voltage of the battery and locate a replacement first before you do anything.

Exactly what I live... The power light turns on but the oqo does not. Too bad I am having this problem as a new user. Any chance to change it or my new oqo goes straight to trash?

Does this mean the 02+ will never have this particular problem ?

As I told earlier I can turn the OQO sometimes. After trying x times , pulling battery out and in etc and sometimes I can use it for couple hours or 10 mins. When I turned it off, ''after it cools down'' i can not turn the OQO on. The power light turns on , fan noise comes but nothing at screen. Then once again I try X times and turn it on again somehow. And when I enter bios i see the date is reset to 2003. That is why I thought there can be a problem with the cmos battery... But you say no, it is the motherboard... Right?

yes, after read what you have just write 100% chance of motherboard failure .I work in computer repair and I bought few month ago a defective oqo for repair for myself.I don't have the time yet to explain all my aventure in diabolic world of the oqo motherboard failure but for information I can tell you I had a oqo that do exactly the same think than yours oqo.
It's the motherboard like the mine.

When I have more  time,I would write more for your information.
