OQO is still alive:

2+ with lower price since only 1GB and LCD:

Here is an interesting video from an eBay seller who is selling his Model 02 because it's too powerful for his needs and so he bought the Model 01. (The prices he mentions are a bit on the high side, however.):

eBay will email you when your search appears. Just use both "oqo 1.86" and "oqo 1.86GHz" as search terms. For example, this one came from the "oqo 1.86GHz" search:

The above auction ends: Mar 28, 2010 17:18:34 PDT but someone could snap it up for its buy-it-now price of $3700. I'm unfamiliar with the seller but he did lower the price since no one bid several weeks ago and he wants $15 for shipping. Terms say "no returns".

I like it.. I will keep an eye on it over the next few days.

The only thing I would do to it is replace the HDD with an SSD (and install Win7)

I did both to my 2+, but the main "problem" for me seems to be the Gobi multi-carrier modem. On Vista I could obtain physical access to all 3 US carriers, the only problem there being that OQO had never uploaded the MEID to Verizon so Verizon won't let me sign up for service. However, in Win 7 I was unable to get AT&T to work either, leaving me with Sprint as the only option. (Sprint is my service provider anyway so it's no big deal but it eliminates the main advertised benefit of Gobi.)

I don't think we have those issues in Australia.. We don't need to supply MEID number to any carrier as there is no special deal.  I expect I can just use my existing SIM card from my 3G carrier. 6G for $39

Sounds like you're using hspa which is what AT&T uses in the US (with sim cards). They don't require an MEID either. That was the carrier that worked in Vista but not Win 7.

I had to download Win7 Novatel drivers to get my modem to work with Win7.

HSDPA is the only carrier aust. supports so yes we only use SIMs.

As long as you have the modem drivers for Win7 that's all you should need to get a dial up connection.  If you want to use the application to monitor data and show signal strength you will also need the modem application.  I would be wanting to use the Gobi application working under Win7 with HSDPA.

This is an interesting web sites

I haven't yet tackled Win7 on my 02, but I may eventually; where did you get the Win 7 Novatel Drivers?

The advantage of Gobi is carrier switching w/o card switching. In Vista and in Win 7 I use:
2 Gobi Install files (drivers),
3 connection Managers (for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon), and
the OQO Manager to switch carrier modes "conveniently" and to control power to the modem via the wireless dash.
The only problem is AT&T (hspa NA) doesn't work in Win 7 even though the software does change the options.txt file just as it does in Vista. I'll have to try the dll swap mentioned in the josh link you provided.

I am the seller on the 2gb ram 1.86 2+ you are talking about.  I can set it up with the 120gb drive as listed or a 64ssd whichever you prefer.  It is in great condition.
