hello, It it possible to install an HSDPA device into my e2?
I now use tethering with my phone but the connection between my phone and oqo always stops.
I haven't opened my OQO yet but will do it if necessary.

Although it that thread, Picasso said that he could do it for Sprint or Verizon, not HSDPA.
You may also want to consider one of those WWAN to Wi-Fi hot-spot gadgets but I'm not sure if one is available for hsdpa.

it is possible to put a mini pci hsdpa card in a non wwan e2 as picasso done it for me using an unlocked option modem,7.2mbps in the uk but as ronc said the novatel mifi works very well with the oqo as well.

@Ronc: In my country there is no EV-DO network so that is out of the question.
@Tam23: I search eBay but didn't find mini pci hsdpa cards. Any idea where i can get one?
I somewhat solved it by setting up USB tethering but because my phone is charging out of the battery of my OQO battery life is significantly redused. EG: WiFi tethering (when it works for about 5 minutes before it fails) battery: 1H50 minutes on full charge and power setting to balanced, USB tethering: about 1H and 20 minutes on full charge. With almost 2 hours I have just enough power to make it to an charging point but just over an hour 15 just won't cut it.
Any idea how much power built-in HSDPA will use? Getting an extended or an extra standard battery is not an option because 1. they are to expansive 2. they are very hard to get.

This speech recognition is really nice! (but makes long posts)

What about tethering your mobile phone to OQO via bluetooth.  I use to do that for years until I got built in HSDPA.

No. But I sometimes use the WWAN and other times use Wi-Fi without noticing a difference in battery life.

Wouldn't tethering it to your phone via Bluetooth, as Keyone suggested, be a lot cheaper than built-in? I don't blame you for wanting it built-in; I'm surprised you just didn't buy an OQO with built-in hsdpa. There's more to it than the card. You need a slot to plug the card into, another slot for the sim card, and a pull-out antenna. You also need to install the drivers, the carrier connection manager, and the OQO Manager in that order.

this is only my point of view,i am uk based so hsdpa is pretty standard.if you have a non wwan oqo then its a task not for the faint hearted to install a wwan card, picasso done an exellent job on my oqo and even put new antennas in each side so no need for the pull out antenna.the signal quality is  very good but i do feel battery life is down using the wwan.i find myself using the novatel mifi on a regular basis.you could email picasso at picasso@gmail.com
be prepared for long waits between e-mail exchange from him as he is a very busy man.
its well worth the price quoted and is a major improvement in the oqo function.
fyi i usually install the sierra wireless mc8775v mini pci or any unlocked option cards just because i like the way they operate and the drivers and  connection managers are fool proof.

My phone doesn't support bluetooth tethering. Its or WiFi (wich works fine on my MacBook by the way) or USB. WiFi just drops out after connecting in less than a minute. USB works fine but it also charges my phone so realy impacts the battery life on my OQO. More than WiFi.

I bought it second hand from someone that bought it for an project that never took off. These things are rare so i was lucky to have one. And not the 1.6 model that dies because of overheating. $500 is not much for an good OQO new in box.
I have OQO manager working fine in Win7 but if there is an order I have to uninstall it first if it will conflict.
There is indeed more to it than i originally thought.
