I have a dead 1.6 best, 120 gig, sprint, XP tablet.   The typical board failure.  Warrentech had me send it to Encompass in FL.  They got it, said they could do nothing with it and I now have to pay return shipping as well to get my dead unit back.

Warrentech says they can't find anyone to fix it so they are talking pro-rated refund.  The problem is I stupidly input the price of the warranty ($300 something) into their form and not the machine price.  I don't have the invoice.  OQO is gone and took their price list down.  buildyourumpc.com is down (bought it there).  I'm going to open the OQO when I get it back and remove the drive, hopefully there is a copy of my invoice in the e-mail on it.

Anyone have suggestions on who might fix it that will accept a warrantech RO?  How I might be able to get an official purchase price to show Warrentech for prorated refund?  If both fail, anyone want to buy it sans drive?  Smiley

Picasso may be able to fix it but it will take a long time. I read a post of his saying that if he can fix it (probably with the more reliable 1.5 processor) it shouldn't cost more than $200. You might consider an eBay unit if you need one right away. He uses gmail.

I'd get the refund from Warrentech; why not redo the form with the correct price? If you don't remember use an estimate. I think I have a pdf file showing prices and options from 2007 but it may not show the newer 1.6 unit.

The form can't be redone, it's the form I filled out when I registered the three year warranty.  I need either invoice or official price from OQO or buildyourumpc (both dead).   I'm basically over a barrel with the warranty and may end up only being able to get a prorated refund on the warranty cost because of my gaffe and lack of invoice.

As for the machine, I don't really need the OQO right away and will buy a new portable before I need it, so if I can't find my invoice I'll probably just part out the machine and sell accessories on ebay for whatever I can get.  I think the machine may be worth more in parts than as a broken whole.
