So, I got my OQO up and running with all the applications I wanted on it.... and 2 months into using it the keyboard no longer does any input. Tried rebooting, battery removal, restoring original settings with both XP and Vista recovery discs.... nothing happens. Computer boots and goes to login screen and then just stays there.

I do have the extended warranty (if that is even worth anything) for $3000.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks. Jean

The same thing happened to me once; just get an external USB keyboard and use it to go into the BIOS.  Then I think you need to reset the EC.  If you search this forum, you find this problem discussed and how to reset your BIOS.

mjlaris is absolutely correct.  It only takes about one minute.  I had this happen on a trip across the country and had to find a Best Buy to borrow a keyboard once.

Yes, that is definitely the solution. It happened to me once and an reset of the EmbeddedController in the BIOS solved it! Wink
This also helps in trackstick issues.
Now see if it helps.
If it doesn't solve your problems it is most likely hardware.

I had already tried using a USB keyboard once and had no luck. This time, it worked in that I can do some input but not all keys (on the USB keyboard) work the same as on the OQO. I did manage on two occasions to get to my desk top;  the keyboard on the OQO doesn't work with the desktop visible (no surprise). The USB keyboard works after a fashion when at the desktop (but not every key).  So, I am thinking likely software and not hardware problem and yes bios needs to be reset.

I did a search and found hitting function and backspace key together as OQO boots will get me to the bios.... fine, except I am unsure what keys to hit on the USB keyboard. (I am going to try F8 and F10 for starts).   Any help appreciated. Thanks. Jean

Fn+Backspace gives you "Delete" on the OQO-Keyboard!

So "Delete" on a normal Keyboard is the right answer!

(Yes, it is simpe as that! Wink )

So, rebooted and held down delete on regular keyboard and it worked. Re-set the embedded controller and I can use the key board again. Thank you very much.... this is my busy season and I was pretty happy using the OQO in the field (I am a large animal veterinarian and I can keep the computer in my pocket and not laying on some hay bale).
