I'm just curious, as I have replaced mine once already and it seems to loosing its roughness already.  Anyone else had to replace them yet, if so how long are they lasting you.

Perhaps I just have rough fingers!

I've only had my 02 for 3 months or so, and I've already got significant wear on mine. I'm starting to use the pen more often now, so I don't have to replace the cap. It still has a good amount of 'sandpaper' on it, but it is wearing much quicker than I'd thought it would.

They look just like the IBM Trackpoint caps.  Are they the same?

I have seen the IBM ones for much cheaper than the ones on OQO.com

Although very similar, the OQO uses the smaller sized eraser heads.

True, most IBM trackpoint caps don't fit, however the standard IBM dome type cap fits my OQO perfectly. I have been using it for some time. It feels more comfortable than the gray OQO cap, and it's red color looks awesome in the silver/black OQO 02 body  Grin

As I said, I have been using the red IBM dome cap for about 2 months now, no sign of wear and tear. And it's easier to clean compared to the gray OQO cap. I suppose it should last another 6-12 months no prob. I use my OQO daily.

Buy online, you can find them easily. I got mine from Amazon and they did come with two other rubber caps that don't fit. Avoid the 3-pack collection if you can, rubber ones don't fit. Just the classic dome red cap fits and works perfectly. I love it!

Just another note, when you 1st put in the IBM trackpoint cap (classic dome) it MAY appear to be a bit oversized for the OQO 02 stick, just push it all the way in place, it will work just fine, perfect height as well when sliding the screen back in place. It works better than the original OQO cap, IMO. Did I mention it looks great too  Wink

It's the Classic Dome, the 1st type. Simply Google or Pricegrabber "trackpoint cap" I am sure you will find a bunch of online sellers. Amazon has them too.

I use a pair of tweezers and pull straight up.  They came off for me without a problem.
